Orientation of front bush?
« on: 09 January 2013, 23:40:06 »

I will replace fr. control arm bushings tomorrow. Front ones have holes in rubber. Do holes have to be on top and bottom or on sides?
Thanks.
Here is front bush I ordered.

If I recall correctly the little plastic wedge is there to brace the bush under braking, so that should be towards the inside of the car.

That sounds right, but I have slept since monday ::)

Why not poly bush them? Pattern bushes last from a week to 20k, with no guarantees, whereas polys last forever. Try www.powerflex.co.uk listed under Vauxhall Omega :y

About $120 for the bushes and rollbar bushes as a complete kit. Be sure to fit the bushes as per the guide otherwise they won't last 5 mins :y

Thanks for advise.
I'll pay $25 for front bush and $12 for rear, not bad price.
I never buy rollbar to frame bushes, I use piece of old tire (sidewall). I even made a few motor mounts from old tires (for Mitsubishi 3000GT and Honda Accord), they didn't look good, but worked perfect.

Those front bushes are available in poly as a kit of their own, about $75. Well worth considering if those ones don't last :y

The key thing from the guide is to tighten the front bush bolts with the full weight of the car on the wheels. If you tighten them with the car in the air, then they tear when the car is lowered, killing them before you've even dve driven a yard.

Poly don't fail, or need bolts torquing with wheels loaded.

If 4 front ones are bad, I guess, I need to replace rear ones? Lucky me, ball joints are good.
