Speedo/instrument cluster?
« on: 31 August 2020, 18:23:31 »

Just wanted OOF’ers opinions on the instrument cluster?
In the process of buying/changing one.
So will a 160 speedo (Must be 2.6/3.2) from a 99 omega fit a 2001 3.2?
Is it just plug and play or is there something different on the speedo between the 2yrs which will prevent it from slot in/working?
Not fussed about the MID as dont use that anyway. Any help will be appreciated  :y

Same engine type and same gearbox...

Ideally

So 2.6/3.2 with same gearbox will be fine :y

Guy forgot what it came off from? Hence why wanted to double check.
Did 2.5/3.0 come with 160mph speedo? Or was it just the 2.6/3.2 doc?

2.5 does indeed have a 160mph speedo.

The 2.5 engined Omegas were still being registered in Jan 2001, so even with an overlap, I doubt you would find a 1999 2.6

I'd ask for the part number and compare to what is fitted to your car

2000 Model Year includes the dbw cars... 2.2/2.6/3.2 ;)
Hence the continuous confusion....

A 2001 2.5 is dealer principle registering a dusty hulk in the corner of the showroom just to get rid of it ;D

Can't argue with that, but you'd still be hard pushed to find a 1999 2.6 - earliest reg would be a Y

OK, definitively, any post 1998 v6 instrument cluster will work in any post 1998 v6.  There are some visual changes between FL and MFL, but thats asthetics only.

BUT it might need reprogramming, based on tyre size.  All post 1998 (so MFL and FL) ones are programmable, PFL (ie, pre 1998) are not programmable.

2.0/2.2 petrol ones are unsuitable as only go to 140mph, and diesel ones additionally have a low rpm tacho
