Big cats have pretty much the same characteristics as little puddy cats.  They can be affectionate, loving, like a good cuddle and also can be playful. 

But like puddy cats, they also like to play rough now and again, and when they get their claws out and start biting, you're in trouble!

This is pretty much the same type of story as 'Christian the Lion', which was returned to the wild after being kept as a pet, so it seems quite genuine for it to happen.
