Omega General Help / Omega Starting Problems
« on: 13 September 2007, 09:16:16 »
How do everyone,

I have recently had a few starting problems with my Omega 2.2 Auto.

Having had the RAC out to my car outside my house he was 90%
certain that the cause was a faulty camshaft sensor even though no
warning light was not appearing on the dashboard.

I took the gamble and had a new camshaft sensor fitted and now the
car is starting first time. However, when the car is now started
for the first time the warning light (this looks like a spanner on top of a car)
now appears. If I stop and restart the car the warning light disappears.

I was wondering why the light was not coming on in the first place to
suggest the camshaft was indeed faulty? and why when the new sensor is now fitted
does the light come on intermittently?

Does the warning system need to be reset as you would do with a PC when a new
device fitted??

I would very grateful if anyone has any answers to the questions above.

Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / veryoneGood Vibrations
« on: 19 April 2007, 20:06:55 »
How Do Everyone!

This problem may seem a very strange one but please bear with me.

I currently drive a 2.2 Auto CD.

When I stop at the traffic lights for example I leave the car in 'drive' mode but keep
my foot on the brake. If I then press the switch for the rear heated window what
happens is a very strange mild vibration occurs around the drivers area. If I turn
it off the vibration stops. Pressing the swtich on always creates this vibration
whether the car is hot or cold.

I'm hoping it is not a serious problem but it is rather annoying and puzzling.

Omega General Help / Trip Computer
« on: 01 March 2007, 09:49:36 »
How do everyone!

Had my 2.2 CD Auto for a few weeks now and I have a likkle question regarding just
how accurate the computer is. The needle on the petrol gauge is into the red but
pressing the computer shows the range is say 55 miles. How accurate is this
computer?? Can one rely on it?

Also when the petrol light comes on, how many miles comfortably would you
get before the car ran out of petrol completely?

Omega General Help / Power Steering Box
« on: 23 February 2007, 19:25:09 »
How Do Everyone!

Had my Auto 2.2 CD for a couple of weeks now and the power steering has been playing up.
It is knocking off when I am parking up. Took it back to the garage who in turn has taken
it to a Vauxhall dealer for a diagnostic check. Apparently it needs a new power steering box.
The pump is working fine.

My question is that although my car is 6 years it only has 36000 miles on it. Should this
type of fault be occuring so soon? Or is it because it is 6 years old and not necessarliy
the amount of mileage.

And finally how much does one of these boxes cost and are they simple to fit?
I have trawled this site and the internet but can't find any answers.

Omega General Help / Climate Control Question
« on: 10 February 2007, 12:42:30 »
How Do Everyone!

Just a likkle question regarding the climate control in my 2.2 CD.
When I first switch the heater on in my car nothing comes out (hot or cold)
for a good 4-5 mins. The temparature is set to 22 degreees.

Does the heat only come out when the required temp. has been reached.

I can't remember but I'm sure my old omega (although it was not climate)
just pumped out the heat hot or cold straight away.

Omega General Help / Power Steering Problem
« on: 04 February 2007, 10:46:59 »
Hi Everyone,

I seem to have a problem with my power steering. It is not dropping off
all the time. It just seems to be when for instance I am trying to get out
of a tight car parking space and I end up doing a lot of mini 3 point turns.
The rest of the time is ok. I have checked the levels and all seems fine
and dandy.

Any ideas? Am I looking at an expensive repair??

Omega General Help / Those Damn Scratches
« on: 03 February 2007, 08:54:58 »
How Do Everyone!

I bought ny 3rd Omega last week, picked it up after it had cleaned from top to bottom and
it looked in showroom condition.

A few days have now passed and I have begun to notice a few hairline white scratches
on the boot and the bonnet.

I have tried on previous cars to cover these up using colour magic or similar products
without much success.

Does anybody know of any good products or any tricks up their sleeves that will show
me how to disguise these scratches. The colour of my car is jade green.

Many thanks

Omega General Help / Dipstick !
« on: 31 January 2007, 07:13:33 »
How do everyone !

I know this may seem a silly and odd question but I checked my
oil the other day and the picture of the dipstick in the manual
is nothing like what is in my car.

The manual shows a dipstick with a Max and Min levels. The one in
my car just has a series of bumps on it.

Can anyone explain this and which one is the corret one?

I know you're all bored with the introductions and stuff but what the hell.

Due to pick up my 3rd Omega on Saturday.  Auto 2.2 CD ( Y plate). I've had an
auto CD before and also a 2.5 V6 elite auto. Both great cars and definitely
gave my previous BMW 520 a run for its money. Well the V6 did !!

I know jack s%^t about cars, well the things that make them go anyway.
Can anyone tell me what I should checkout before the 3 month warranty
I get runs out.

Looks a great site with load of very useful information.

Keep up the good work.
