ok take deep breaths before i start.....

changed lambda sensor today had earth lead off for an hour or so, then went for drive all fine, switched off put fuel in , started up and got all original lambda codes ( could they stay stored) and also got codes :
31 Engine RPM signal (crankshaft sensor) No signal
74 Air Flow Sensor (AFS) High voltage

is there something obvious i have missed and more important will the old codes still be stored as car ironically running better, more responsive and better on fuel? :-/

as per 31 don't worry about that, i think u get that all the time when the engine is switched off  :y

Thought it was code 19 that you got with the engine off ??

Code 31 is HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1) i think?

No, 19 is dead cert knackered crank sensor, 31 is no crank signal (expected if not running)

ok well  been and done test properly and 31 has dissappeared glad cause the word crank sensor sent her all funny not a hard job i know but is when cant get part and aint got tools especially after i put her c.locking module back in after aa took it out  to get car started and bloody immobilised it and couldnt get it back off lol :-[

Codes remain stored for 20+ clean starts.....is the fault light still on?

Light has come on a few times, but have now developed code 74, which could also
be an intermittant fault so cant tell 100% but car seems more responsive & instant
consumption appeared better

Haven't got to bottom of it yet, but it appears some codes never go, some do (this is wrt paperclip test - a code stays in ecu as far as code reader concerned until specifically cleared).

someone told me they "know a way" to remove codes without tech thingy... but suprisingly  they never came up with the goods and you are too far away as your prices seem very good

The 20 clean starts thing appears to suppress old codes from showing on paperclip test (but still appear to show via code reader until manually cleared).  Disconnecting ECU for 24hrs does NOT work.

so is it 20x start then turn off or do i have to drive it or run it a bit?
wish i'd known about battery as then wouldnt have driven her vec sri 150 to shops >:( .. not a bad car really just manual( not cars fault but i keep trying pull away in neutral then select first with out the clutch) and small and sssoooo slow  :(

On each start it needs to run a bit for it to count as clean start...

Lol.....because the 4 pots dont suffer coil pack failure, cam sensor failure or crank sensor failure ;) ...not!  :y
