Moved to Cornwall yesterday. About half way there, while the cruise control was engaged, the abs and tc lights came on. The cruise control went off and the speedo went to zero. After about 30 miles the lights went out and the speedo started working again. ::)

Since then the lights are sometimes on, sometimes off.

Just had a used abs ecu fitted recently.

Any idea what the fault might be?

Thanks very much. :y

General Discussion Area / Surrey to Cornwall Directions
« on: 28 March 2014, 15:06:37 »
I'm moving to Looe in Cornwall in the next couple of days. I'm currently living in Warlingham, a few miles south of Croydon.

Should I take the M4/M5 or would M3/A303 be better?

I'll have an omega full of animals and other stuff. ;D

Thanks for any advice. :y

I'd like to say a big thank you to Darth Loo-Knee for coming to my rescue. :y

He has replaced my cambelt, water pump, abs ecu and idler arm and done lots of welding, all after travelling 190 miles to get to my home. All my MOT work done.

I'm so so pleased. What a brilliant mechanic! :y

Thanks ever so much Daz. :y :y :y :-*

General Car Chat / Engine tuning
« on: 23 March 2014, 12:42:14 »
Just wondering whether anyone ever has their engine tuned?

If so, did it improve performance and economy?

There is a company on ebay offering this service:

General Discussion Area / Still waiting to go to Cornwall
« on: 20 March 2014, 20:48:45 »
I was supposed to be moving to Cornwall on Saturday. It all had to be cancelled as my current home failed its electrical inspection. :o :o :o

The electrician said the earth system is no good. The house is only 3 years old! ???

I'm sick of waiting now.

Omega General Help / Can anyone do some work on my car please?
« on: 14 March 2014, 13:48:08 »
Hi all.

Just wondering if there is anyone available to do some work on my car? I need the cambelt doing before Sunday if possible, as my MOT runs out then.

I've booked it into my local garage for the MOT work next week. It also needs the ABS and idler arm doing and welding but the garage can do that.

I'm moving to Cornwall on the 22nd so I'm trying to get it all sorted before then.

A couple of oof members have offered to help but I think they are far too busy at the moment.

I would be so grateful and I'm happy to pay the going rate. :y

General Discussion Area / Who does what on the OoF?
« on: 13 March 2014, 19:01:00 »
I was just wondering (for future reference) who does paid work on Omega's n the Oof?

I know a couple that do but it would be really helpful if there was a list. Or is there a list already?

Even better would be an Oof garage with MOT station and Oof shop. ;D

General Discussion Area / Has anyone heard from James?

He was going to do my cambelt on Saturday but I haven't heard from him in a few days.

I'm moving to Cornwall on the 22nd so was hoping to get it done. I'm really worried about it as I need to pack the car up with stuff and transport 2 dogs and 3 cats.

Omega General Help / Questions for the MOT
« on: 10 March 2014, 19:51:18 »
Hi all.

My MOT is due on Sunday and I have a few questions about it if you don't mind:

1. If your car fails its MOT does that mean you cant use it even if there is some time remaining on you current MOT certificate?

2. My idler arm needs changing. Is that a big job?

3. My ABS ECU needs replacing. So does the timing belt. Are these two completely separate jobs or is it possible to combine them?

4. Some garages advertise MOT's for half price. What's the catch?

5. Do you have any other advice for getting your car through its MOT?

I'm moving to Cornwall on the 22nd so I'ma bit worried about this now.

Thanks for all the help. :y :-* :-* :-*
