I have at least part of an old O gauge set in the loft that I acquired from somewhere around 20 years ago.

Not sure if these pics are from the same year but the details got worse as time went on.

No I don't think it is Skruntie.

That particular Hornby (as oppossed to the earlier Triang versions) model came out I think in the late 1970's, early 1980's as it has that "dusty" appearance which is different than the earlier "shiney" models of the 1960's.  They were mean't to reflect a more realistic appearance, but now they tend to have rust patches / streaks, and water / coal dust blemishes to do that! :D :y

In addition the drive was in the tender of the 1970s/80s models, as I believe they still are. ;)

I dont have a train set but, my little lad does  :y ::) ::)

Wondered how many times I would see that reply.

.... have only girls, hence no train set at present  ;D

Did try to entice them with scalextric during Christmas a few of years ago, but with only limited success. Had to take it out in January due to space limitations, never built the track since...  :'( :'(

That should not be automatic, as us girls can also appreciate the fantastic romance, complex engineering aspects and history of the railways!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Many preserved steam lines now have a good number of female enthusiasts, some of whom work on  the footplate as I once did! :y :y :y :y

I`m reasonably well preserved; but (doubtlessly) will need a thorough tear-down and rebuild before too long! ;D

Still got my train set. Must be about 25 years since I last had it working. It was my mom's brothers set when he was a lad so must date from about 1950. :y
