"it was literally on fumes. Range saying 0, gauge not moving (I know, I know!)

I am wondering if I ran it so low"

I don't even see the word 'dry'  :-\

Ok, how about James is getting away with having run his fuel tank dry... ;D

I ran the R Class out once and it wasn't happy for a while after...

I take it you "got away with"  it      :-\  :D

"MOIST" then  :-\   ;D

I'm off to read OOF terms and conditions ,

seems the "grammar  police" and "English spelling division" are  scrutinising OOF  :o

I'm constantly making grammatical and spelling errors  when posting  :-[

I need to check how many points I've totted up ,I might well loose my "OOF posting licence"    :P

all joking aside ,,,

I hope James hasn't had further issues  :)

Car was fine yesterday. It's got a bit of a squeak only at idle / very low revs. Hoping it's the aux belt bedding in, and not the HP pump!

I'll take the flack for running the tank "moist"  ;) Let's face it, it wouldn't be a first and probably not the last time I've done it. It's usually the Omega estates which catch me out though - normally more careful with a diesel for obvious reasons....

Might be air, the VW common rails are a bit shitty for this as they do not self prime and if actually ran out need a bit of work to get them running (usually cranking and popping the return pipe off the filter). The filter housings are easy to crack when changing the filters also.

That said, it could also be a crank sensor showing no output, you will just have to run it and see what happens

cheers Mark :y - 100 miles or more now and not missed a beat... I'm keeping everything crossed it was just air from when I ran it so low....
