I know full well that if you're down in the dumps it's hard to work up enthusiasm to do stuff, but if you do nothing the spell in the doldrums will only last longer. As you have the parts and the knowledge/skill to fix it I'd say do so then make the decision to keep or sell.Although fixing it may only be an easy days work for you remember you don't have to fix it in a day[it's not as though you need it done to get to work or anything]so maybe just spend an hour[or whatever]putting the oil cooler and 'stat in then walk away and put the pump/cambelt on another day and so on.No way to tell without seeing it but perhaps the bootlid/roof paintwork might respond to cutting compound and buff? Whatever you decide I hope that whatever is getting you down soon passes and you feel more optimistic about the future.
The female in the drivers seat of a parked Qashquai who when I pointed out to her the o/s/r tyre was nearly flat and she might want to at least get some air in it asap asked me who the hell I thought I was and what gave me the right to tell her what to do.
I'd heard that it was the speed of the AC Cobra that caused all the outrage back then.Of course the 70mph limit was only introduced as a temporary measure so expect it to be lifted any time soon
Oil cooler failure is typically seen by oil in the coolant[but not the other way round]swapping one is not a particularly difficult job and I believe there's a guide on here in the maintenance section on how to do it. I understand that some cars[about 1998?] had a problem with head gaskets leaking to the outside of the head/block towards the rear but others would know better about this than me.
