I am a new member saying hello.
I bought my Elite (3.0 Auto in Gold) 3 weeks ago and love it.
What a car. what a spec. I'm still finding things to play with.
The car was meticulously looked after by the previous owner for 12 years. (not so meticulously driven - so a few scrapes and dings) it was garaged and sorn for 6 months every year (nov - april), still serviced at the time intervals and had done 68K when i picked it up.
Despite a noticeable dent on the front passenger wheel arch, a deep scuff (not quite a dent) on the bonnet and some low level scratches, the car is mint.
After only 3 weeks of owning it I've only found 2 things wrong.
1. Bulb out behind passenger climate controls. (Dual zone, on a 1999 car??? unbelievable)
2. Passenger central door lock is a bit teenage - sometimes it can't be bothered.
That's it.
Okay, the handbrake gaiter is worn. So what. (got a new set ordered anyway.)
I bought it because I'm doing 100 miles a day in a peugeot van and wanted a better motorway battle-cruiser. (Now I know what my profile caption will be).
As for me, I had been reduced from a Calibra and L200 owner to driving the works van for 7 years (the peugeot) which I then bought in April when I went self-employed (subbing on sites - I'm an electrician). After driving a small van for so long, driving a comfortable Omega has given me a new lease of life. Well, life anyway. There's no lease. I only paid 700 quid for it.
The stereo is fantastic. 7 speakers with an amp. Flaming mobile phone company won't let me buy a duplicate sim card to put in the radio though. A CD CHANGER. I used to have one of these in my Calibra. And the best bit - IT PLAYS TAPES. I can listen to my mix tapes from the 90's, and tapes don't end up lost - not like a memory stick full of music.
Oh and the rotary knob off the black'n'white-nav is missing.
That'll do for now.
That's a hefty introduction from me, Dan.
