Discovered a clunk driving mine. Droplinks it is then... ::) If only ;D

Nope, two of the four lower ball joints, pressed into the hub carrier ::)

So some new toys ordered to do them in situ, so will get done with the front brakes..

I can see how you could press them out in situ, but how do you get them back in without trashing the rubber boots or threads.

Good to hear :y

Official method is remove and strip the hub leg :o I will remove the ABS sensor first to avoid upsetting it.

That may be more trouble than its worth unless it comes out really easily

I suppose I should think about putting some electricity in them, as its dry.

Trouble with always being in, I lose track of time when I last did it.  I'm aiming for every 10 days or so.

Nothing, I'm just watching Fuzz Townsend's live feed working on his Austin 12... I might, possibly, maybe do something on one of the cars later... after the Asda delivery!  :-[ ;D

Oil n filters on the posh Vectra, only down was there's a little nipple on the Bottom of the filter which locates the filter in the Housing, when removing the filter it broke, no wouldn't come out, access isn't easy, so left it in and removed nipple from new one and fitted it,, Stupid idea GM, didn't have it on the Omega. Basically same design, but on the top of the engine, and a plastic cap not an alloy one,, don't know weather to change it to alloy from an Omega..

Code reader turned up today, so got stuck in.

For a 20 year old car with no history, it wasn't too bad...

Nothing in the engine or gearbox,
1code for a short to the aircon compressor, turned out to be a broken wire,
A handful of airbag codes, all passenger seat occupancy related, so will investigate the usual suspects in due course,
ESP /BAS ecu not talking to the engine and EIS ecus. So needs the ESP ecu from the same car as the engine ecu etc. Which is a pain, but waiting to hear back from the seller.
A few historical codes all cleared and not returned.

So fixed the aircon wire, and discovered that the duo valve is playing up, so took that out and cleaned it. Needs a new one really as it was quite corroded inside. Found a pinched wire in the climate panel loom as well, so that's been dealt with.

Tidied up the engine bay whilst I was under the bonnet. And took a few pics for those who might be interested...

Mechanically this car is pretty straight forward to work on.

Nice looking engine bay.
I could be tempted by this Merc (despite being silver) if it weren't for the lockdown thing. Plus I cant face getting rid of my Omega yet.

Sanded and primed the MV6 wheels. Leaving that to dry fully before I start painting... The primer I've used is a lovely anthracite hue, just a shame I don't like dark wheels...!

Nice project, but a couple of notes...

On that model, they usually have ABC suspension, think Citroen SM. On speed. With a computer.

On that car specifically, the red display in the cluster is not good. Could simply be down to a 'dangle berries'ed battery, but the picture isn't clear enough to guess.

Also no MoT, but the ad is honest enough ;)

Otherwise, what could possibly go wrong :D
