Cars for Sale & wanted / Omega 3.0 Elite Auto for sale
« on: 25 January 2014, 12:13:22 »
::) Sadly the time has come when I must go for a smaller engine size and so the 3.0 must go. It is an automatic with all of the usual Elite refinements including electrically operated and heated leather seats, electric rear window blind, electrically heated adjustable mirrors, Bose sound system, climate control, cruise control, air con, power steering, ABS, etc, the list goes on...... all of which are in full working order. The all important genuine mileage is a fraction over 92K. Strangely it also has two working keys! It is in good nick for its year (1999 on a V plate) and is totally reliable and clean both inside and out (including the engine bay). The colour is Champagne Gold metallic. The wheel rims are alloy and all tyres are less than 3 months old. There is a spare alloy wheel too complete with a fairly new tyre of the same type and size as the others. The spare wheel is of the steel slightly smaller width type and is as new. There are obviously some minor points on the body, nothing severe, requiring attention but there are no holes or dents other than the bonnet (which doesn't look bad anyway). It past its MOT's each year without any problems and is currently tested until July 10 2014 and taxed until end of July 2014. There are some colour matched paints included too just in case.
Not looking for anything exorbitant, just a sensible offer for an honestly described car. Road tests are possible provided that I accompany you. If you cannot show insurance proof I will drive according to your instructions.
Daz (DLK) knows the car so if in doubt ask him.......he will get the first refusal anyway should he want it.
Must go before the end of January cos collecting new car on the 1st Feb.  Email me for pics.

General Discussion Area / Is this really the way forward?
« on: 25 January 2014, 05:50:39 »
Waiting outside of a school a few days ago while I was parked close to a mobile fast food van I had the misfortune to overhear a group of 4 young 'men' and 3 young 'women' aged about 14 discussing what they should do for the rest of the day. Listening closer it transpired that 2 of them had been sent out of the class for some form of misbehaviour and during break they had then been joined by their companions. Those who had been requested to leave the class were relating what the others should do and that was to 'tell the stupid '*wa* ( I presume that was their tutor) to f off and then meet us at the park while we get the 'stuff'. What the 'stuff' is I can only hazard a guess that it is illegal for them to have.
My point is this; Whilst I was at school the teachers were called Sir or Miss, the use of their forename was forbidden, and they were required to be dressed smartly. Their very appearance and attitude commended respect and that was, for the vast majority, what they received from both their school pupils and the general public. Then over a fairly short period of time it was decided by those who should know better that the use of the teachers forename by their pupils would bring them closer to their pupils. From the evidence since then it appears that the respect they once had has now been eroded to a very low point as a result of that practice.
Just as in business a teacher is akin to a manager, it follows that if a manager in any business is without any respect from the workforce they unable to manage efficiently and so the business suffers generally by a lower output than was envisaged. Would a manager in business allow the workforce to dictate what they would or would not do?
Why then when that answer is an emphatic NO why have the so called teaching ‘profession’ allowed themselves to be manipulated to the position that is now prevalent? Where is the discipline and respect? I envisage that the replies to this will no doubt be that it is a minority who are the cause of this. Ok, maybe it is a minority presently but that minority is growing because by the application of ‘peer’ pressure the support of that minority will continue to grow.
The simple answer and solution I suggest would be to revert to those past methods which instilled respect for teachers and that respect being ‘earned’ by the example set by the teachers.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCR2006 problem
« on: 27 December 2013, 05:31:23 »
??? My CCR2006 started to 'hiccup' on tracks and so I took out the magazine to clean the disks and then load a CD Cleaner disk to clean the optics. I cleaned all of the disks that came out and opted to change them for the new ones I had for Xmas. I loaded 3 new ones straight out of their cases (all 3 recent releases on top labels) and then a new CD optic cleaning disk in the 4th slot and put the magazine back in. Now it does not retain the CD Magazine and ejects it immediately telling me that there is 'no magazine'!

The unit has never been abused or given any problems prior to this episode. Any ideas on what is wrong and if I can somehow repair it? I have tried both of my magazines with all new disks with no luck. Then I gave it a good  :-X :-X :-X :-X but still no luck.... ::)

I have also advertised for a unit in the Wanted section in case there is no solution.

Boring with only the radio and the tape is way too slow.............. >:(

General Discussion Area / Horse meat fiasco
« on: 13 February 2013, 05:25:45 »
 ;D
Is this some sort of joke on us all? I wonder because horse meat has been eaten by joe public willingly and in the full knowledge of what  was all over the continent, and in most of the other countries of the world for donkey years (pardon the pun)! There has never been an outcry about it until some desk bound seat polishing wally has let their personal preferences and objections overrule their common sense! No doubt the usual 'diploma' played a big part in it. Problem with a diploma is that it usually accompanies a total lack of common sense and the inability to have any insight into the implications of any act they initiate.
I have eaten horse meat, and also many other types that are not commonly available for years and enjoy it all. What is the difference between eating any bof them and eating the meat of a lamb, pig, cow, deer, rabbit or any other animal? Somewhere on this planet there is an animal, even insects and grubs, being consumed as food and being enjoyed. Why should the horse be exempt? There is no logical reason at all other than the 'horsey faction' do not like it! Pet meat contains it too.
The biggest question has to be this; Not one single member of the public in any country has complained of the taste or anything else about the products that it has now transpired contained horse meat in any percentage. Surelt that alone gives credence that this is some gameplay by someone with a little authority seeking attention and seeing a massive problem where is not one?
Ah well, time to go online and contact my supplier to order more horse meat along with the other types I thoroughly enjoy!
Here is the web address if you wish to try something different;

The sausages are really a treat and are todays lunch with mash and onion gravy ;)

General Discussion Area / Bariatric surgery
« on: 25 January 2013, 07:36:18 »
This is going to cause a stir but is an account of what was an interesting hour or so in the parish hall. Because it was a Parish Hall no alcohol played a part in the temperament of any of the participants. Many of the group are 'churchified', I personally am not. No offence is therefore meant or implied and as we are all entitled to free speech here we go......
During one of the meetings of the discussion group I regularly attend the question posed was "Should those who are morbidly obese receive free NHS or Private (nhs funded) bariatric surgery when the reason for their obesity was their own choice"?
The discussion was lively and some really interesting comments were made. The vast majority of the concensus of opinion was that anyone who is so morbidly obese should have to pay the total costs of their surgery and after care surgery themselves. There should not be any grant or state assistance. One question was "Why should each operation to fit gastric bands etc cost in excess of £10k, followed by aftercare and further shin tightening surgery at even greater expense be paid by the taxpayer when it was the recipient of the surgery who had by their own choice overeaten to the point where they had become so overweight? There were many replies but interestingly not one of them was upheld by the majority of our group.
One suggestion to save the NHS a vast amount of money and have the same end result was that instead of an expensive gastric band operation, with all of its possible risks to the life of the recipient during surgery, costing many thousands of pounds when the far simpler act of having their teeth wired together to stop them eating solids would be as effective. They would feel no more hungry than with the gastric band and they would still have to learn to adapt their diet, exercise and meal sizes to suit and so retain a healthier weight.
The end result was that the gastric band surgery should not be offered on the NHS and if done privately should be at the total expense of the applicant. It was acknowledged that there would be a very tiny number whose health problems had caused the onset of their obesity but that the majority had caused their own dilemma by their personal choice of their lifestyle.
The NHS would then be able to put those valuable resources to a far better use such as cancer research and care which would benefit the whole of the public and not just the morbidly obese minority who chose to be as they are. After all the NHS has had to spend another massive fortune on buying new heavy duty equipment and vehicles to deal with that selfish section of their patients.
Please reply, not in anger, but with a reason that can be accepted why they should have free treatment. Please, please, not the one where the NHS is free care for everyone, think about how a minority is severely depleting the scarce funds of the NHS by their own selfish choice of lifestyle acts.
The next discussion is one of 'benefit abuse' and its impact on neighbourhoods.

Why does the slightest bit of snow still bring out the muppetts who still think that speed is the best way to get through it? Add to that the bullying techniques they tend to display once they are moving and it all adds up to sheer insanity. Turning their heads in the opposite direction to your approach even when you have the legal right of way so that the 'I did not see you' and hope that you will give way (if its possible) is hardly a good example of driving skill or road sense. Biggest problem is that the same muppetts are just as bad a driver in good weather! Think I will hibernate........... :D
As for the trains .....its always either leaves or snow on the line and yet those on in other parts of the world do not seem to let that stop them! Why does it happen here? The rail travel costs are high enough (exhorbitant even) for them to ensure that the service is the best in the world and not the lame donkey it is. The argument that it is the passengers who will have to pay for the improvements is a false one considering the amounts of profit they have all made over the years since privatisation to the great pleasure of their greedy shareholders.
Would anyone else like to see it re-nationalised? Hmmmmmmm :D

General Discussion Area / That visible crucifix fiasco
« on: 16 January 2013, 04:05:11 »
 :D
Surely the world has gone bananas when some old biddy takes a company to court because she was requested not to display in plain sight, (she was not told not requested not to wear) a crucifix. She stated that it there to signify her religious beliefs. What about the other religions who are offended by the sight of the crucifix and yet come into contact with her? Have they not the same right to be offended? In my view her employers did exactly the right thing by requesting that it was worn under her clothing and so out of sight and therefore unable to cause offence to anyone else. Religious she might be but a fool she most definitely is considering that it is we, the tax payer again, who has had to foot the costs of her ridiculous legal action in the High Court. No doubt her barrister was pleased with his share of the proceeds! As for the ones in silly stockings and wigs who made the judgement, well we already know that they live on a different planet anyway.
I hope her employers remember her action and ensure that her contact with the general public is now limited to ensure that any other religious person using their facilities are not given the opportunity to take offence at the sight of her prominently displayed cross.
To me this is but one more reason why religion should be remembered for what it has proven to be over the centuries.......one big fantasy and a tool whereby wars, discrimination and torture are legalised! Quite apart of course to there NEVER having been any scientific proof that such an entity ever existed in the first place. To me it is but a tool of support for the weak willed and those of low moral fibre as my old SGM used to say (shout), those who need the constant support of a fantasy to believe in. Faith? How about being like many others who are not religious but yet believe in themselves and live quite happy, love filled, morally decent and successful lives without the need for a 'higher being' to believe in?
She should be made to pay all of her legal expenses herself....or ask her religion to! One thing sure is that they would refuse.......
::) Waiting for the BB's to rabbit their nonesense now.............

General Discussion Area / Park Hampers
« on: 09 January 2013, 09:35:59 »
:D Wifey got on about Park Hampers and gave them a ring to see what it was about. Turns out that you pay so much a week/month according to what you have selected and they deliver near to next Xmas. Ah but says I, do they pay any interest on the money they collect and hold for you for the gift vouchers etc. No says she so I says in that case you would be better off taking out a 12 month savings plan at our bank or using a seperate savings account somewhere like a Credit Union and so gain interest which would then allow you to buy more for your money.
Ah she says, that is wise indeed and that is what we will do. Park rang her again to ask if she wanted to proceed and when told why not they tried all ways to convince her that it was the best way to save for Xmas and that she would otherwise miss out on 'special offers' only available to Park Customers Funny though that they could not say what the 'special offers' were  :D.
How many will not heed that sound advice (gleened from MoneyExpert) and pay Park for the pleasure of doing what they could do for themselves and save money into the bargain?  ;)

General Discussion Area / Equal car insurance?
« on: 03 January 2013, 08:24:55 »
Bit puzzled about what will now ensue that the ladies will have to pay the same as the men for car insurance. Will it transpire that the insurance companies will simply grab the extra or will they, as they ought to, proportionally reduce the premiums we all pay?
Am I living in a dreamworld?
Silly sod  ::) I already know that they will not give us any reduction cos that is not what the insurance game is about at all. They want our money and they want to keep it if they can possibly remotely do so by using some almost unheard of sub-sub-sub clause in tiny tiny print.
Will the government of the EU insist that they will give a fair play to it and make certain that the insurers do not profit by the new act?
Opinions please.........

???  ???After the many floods that could posibbly have been averted had the road drains been cleaned out regularly as they once were we had a visit yesterday of a gulley sucker truck in our local area. There was obviously loads of blockages in the kerb gutter drains because it took 2 trips and and an empty to service the 5 in our road alone! How many it would take to do the ones under the always flooded railway bridge is not known but the road used to be always at least 8 inches under water for a few hundred yards every time it rained a bit heavily.
To see horse pastures with water a few foot deep is concerning too when it is the lack of road drainage that causes the problem. The canal was invisible to the eye for miles!
I suppose that the local councils (in their wisdom ;D) will now revert to not doing them again though to save money that will only cost them far more later! The mind boggles at their 'common' sense that looks like it is not so common after all. Quite rare in fact around here  ::) ;D
Anyone else having the same type of experiences with their local authorities?

::) Now this has to raise a laugh. According to a recent survey done by The Princes' Trust, a very worthy organisation with good intentions, the vast majority of the youths surveyed stated that they were unhappy, depressed, bored and found it difficult to relate to the people and real world circumstances around them.
??? That is hardly surprising when the majority of them spend countless hours in a world that is not real, it is a VIRTUAL REALITY one, on their various games consoles, smart phones etc! It seems to me that the problem is that they cannot differentiate between real and imaginary and therefore makes the solution and remedy a very simple one. Stop them accessing and using virtual reality games for long periods of time. Have the manufacturers and designers build in a mandatory maximum time limit operation on them of a few hours, say 2, that would then cut the game off until a longer set period of say 8 hours had elepsed. That way they would then have to spend time in the real world that suirrounds them and adapt back to it  :y Will they like it, of course not because the real world is boring after the many exciting adventures they had in the virtual one which to them had become REAL LIFE.
Why cannot the doogooders and government see that? Are they in some sort of working imaginary virtual world too? ::) ::)
Depressed?  ;) It is the rest of us that have to put up with their selfish ways that should, and have the right to be depressed...........

General Discussion Area / Teachers are at it again
« on: 02 January 2013, 06:28:46 »
Before anyone takes the hump with the following then perhaps they should first think about the previous teaching experiences and employment of the writer, his previous work colleagues and whose relations are still within the same profession but hold an opposite view to the majority of those they work alongside. We always have put the needs of the children - the pupils, FIRST.
??? I just knew it had to come! Watching the news this morning it has transpired that via a survey of teachers that their moral is again very low. Guess what will inevitably come next...obviously they will strike again for better conditions, less work, more holidays, more perks etc whilst all the while insisting that any actions taken by them will not affect the education of our children ::) If that is what they beileve then it is obvious that they are in the wrong profession if they cannopt understand that any strike action by them WILL damage the education of their pupils with whom they were charged by parents and by the government (of whatever flavour) to provide a high standard of education to our children.
I suggest that if their moral is so low and that they are so unhappy then perhaps they ought to go find a different job! Oh! I forgot...there is not another job that affords them the same level of paid time off and power. At the end of the day no-one forces them to work the supposed many unpaid excess hours they do (according to them) do they? A salary in my day, and still does, meant that you were paid for your experience, skill and work, not by the hour.
If teachers are so called professionals then it is high time they acted like true professionals and not in the selfish, self-centred way they do.
Perhaps the truer picture is that they do not like the idea of having to work for a living because it is too much of an inconvenience for them?
A strike will only serve to prove that the above was all correct and bang on the mark!  ;)
Why are so many children leaving school without having received a decent education? Don't blame it on the kids either because the teachers are the adults and it is they who had the rules re-written to make their own lives easier.
Time for a drastic change so teachers are made to come to the standard of teaching our children have the lawful right to, and that we as parents have the right to expect!
I now wait for the usual wafflling excuses that will as usual bear no truth or reason.

General Discussion Area / The charity adverts
« on: 28 December 2012, 15:17:49 »
 ;)
I am curious as to how the children portrayed as being in such dire need are all clean skinned, appear to be well fed and well clothed too in new clothes on the adverts we are bombarded with? I mean, who drinks the 'filthy water' dressed in new clothes?
If the charities want me to give then I expect to be given a truer picture of the needs and not what otherwise seems to be a another ad merely to boost their coffers.....possibly for a new office building or set of company cars and let's not forget the salaries of the top board members that do not work for 'charity' needing a bit more to play with.
Cynical I may be called, but I am nobodys fool..........There again in my earlier years I did actually work among them for charity for a year but then became hardened by the amounts collected not all being used for the purpose intended. Only a small proportion ever got to where it was meant to go and I strongly suspect that it is the same today.
I also wonder if the heads of the charities give anything themselves?????? ???
