Wishbone Pinch Bolt

Friend of mine in East Sussex is replacing both wishbones and he has asked for some help as both pinnch bolts are knackered.

Can anybody advise on the size and nut size please ?

The shoulder needs to be a precise fit in the groove in the balljoint. That's unlikely to happen with a standard M10(or whatever) bolt, so this is one instance I would be buying from a dealer. Just seen Al's post, £3 per bolt seems pretty reasonable to me.


Recovered far too many cars with self-ejected struts due to the wrong pinch-bolt being fitted.


I would have no qualms about using a decent quality generic locknut. M12 should be 1.75mm pitch, but a lot of car bolts are 1.5 for some reason.

The supposidly better quality wishbones include the associated fitting bolts / nuts including the ball joint pinch bolt / nut, whereas cheaper and possibly more inferior makes don't.
