Found the driver's side lever, switched it and it certainly tilted, but worse! So it seems they're already set up for UK use it seems, beam pattern isn't too impressive especially for projector HIDs!

Here's a quick pic I took with my phone parked in front of a garage (apologies for the huuuuge pic!  :-/):

OK cheers, I'll have a look tomorrow if it's dry.

I think mine are set up for driving on the right, as they don't have the upwards shape in the left side of the beam pattern. However I can't see this lever to adjust... there's a small plastic triangular think that has "L <-- --> R" on it but it won't budge.

Could anyone point it out on this pic:

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Bluetooth Hands Free Kits

Many omegas are 'prewired' for phone kits - there is a special plug taped up behind glovebox which connects to stereo. A cheap Nokia to this plug adapter is around £5 - £6, and makes it so easy. Oddly, mine had no mic fitted, so I had to fit one. Also, the cellular rood aerial is in drivers kick panel - a fair way from the prewired plug  :-?

Pretty sure you need to keep the OE stereo to use this feature though, which I couldn't live with as the sound quality is terrible. I fitted a Parrot unit to mine and it works fine. The sound through the speakers isn't great though, I think the Nokia CK-7w bluetooth kit which I have in my BMW is a little better quality, even though it has its own speaker which is pretty tiny. The electronics in the Parrot appear to be pretty cheap, the synthesised voice when browsing the menus is on a par with that produced by a ZX spectrum  ;D

I never bothered with the display, it's very limited anyway compared to the display on my head unit (hi-res dot matrix, it's a navi unit). However I consider the steering wheel controls a must-have, I barely touch the head unit controls except for doing more complex stuff like navigation or browsing by artist etc. I bought my interface from www.caraudiodirect.com

Omega General Help / Re: Wheel alignment
« on: 25 January 2007, 20:37:13 »
Where is the furthest north recommended place that can do full geometry?

BTW I posted on your forum a few weeks ago about getting my Omega done, my last post was about Drivers in Glasgow being able to do alignment and camber. Sorry I haven't replied, kinda forgot about it! Although you said tracking & camber should be OK, I'd really like a proper full setup as this car does behave strangely under heavy braking and I've already had camber and tracking done.

Cheers.

Omega General Help / Re: 3.0 Flywheel swap and other tuning
« on: 06 September 2006, 22:32:34 »
WTF... I don't think you have a flywheel with an auto!?! You've got that great big sodding torque converter and its associated inertia.

The reason for lightening the flywheel is to reduce the intertia (effectively angular weight) that the engine has to spin. So even though it produces no more power, that power can accelerate a lower angular mass more quickly (and slow more quickly too).

There are of course downsides, not least of which is reduced damping effect causing a reduction in smoothness, but also potential engine damage if the flywheel is design to dampen harmonics from the crankshaft! I don't know enough about the Omega setup to comment with any authority though...

Omega General Help / Re: Rear shocks
« on: 29 January 2008, 14:01:21 »
You guys who think the shocks can't adjust the ride height.... you're wrong :P

Mostly the ride height is determined by the springs, but the dampers can have a range they like to settle in, causing them to exert a force on the springs that changes the ride height. Even though they're not "damping" while in a steady state, they can still resist the expansion of the spring. It's probably pretty unusual to adjust ride height via the dampers on normal road cars, but it can be done and appears to be the case on the MV6.

25-26 average over the last 6 months or so. Fair bit of motorway driving, but it gets a bit of stick elsewhere.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear Blind & Auto Dim Rear View Mirror
« on: 23 January 2008, 10:47:35 »
Yes, take the whole shelf out. The one with the blind will have 3 nuts holding it in place at the back, you can get them from inside the boot. Then it's just a case of folding down the seats and removing the plastic push-in pins, as well as the head rest mounts, holding it in place at the front. Likewise remove the seat belt trim, and the whole thing just pulls forward with a bit of persuasion. The wiring should already be there in the CDX so just plug it in and add the dash switch -- job done.

The mirror is easy too, it just slides downwards. To fit it there are 4 wires you need (well actually only 2 are needed to get it going, the others are to disable dimming in reverse or when the courtesy light is on). You can get 3 of these wires from the courtesy light, so very easy. I can't remember which colours go where, I'm sure someone will be along shortly with that info.

Omega General Help / Re: Engine Keeps Running
« on: 18 January 2008, 12:36:09 »
Don't make a habit of disconnecting the battery while the engine is running, the battery basically acts as a huge dampening capacitor which will absorb any spikes in the supply from the alternator. Without it you could damage some of the sensitive electronics.

43
Oh and the "automatic gearbox" warning on the display, you can get rid of that by grounding one of the pins on the back of the display. It's been posted on here before, have a search.

44
Mole has done this before too... done over a weekend, got all the bits from a scrappy for £100 inc good clutch. So it's not an expensive job if you're capable of doing the labour.

Best upgrade you can do on an auto meeg :P

Omega General Help / Re: anti freeze
« on: 15 January 2008, 14:55:34 »
This definitely implies a leak, and it's being topped up with plain water. "I only put anti-freeze in during winter" simply doesn't cut it, not only is it plain stupid for the reasons described above, it implies that he changes the coolant twice a year, going to all the effort of draining the system at the end of winter to replace it with pure water. I smell bullshit, someone who is so meticulous with maintenance would know that doing so is detrimental to the longevity of the engine.

Steer well clear, as it's very likely there are other problems he's covering up or lying about.
