I don't think you are the only one to struggle with this:

Terry , instead of scrapping it why not do something like the Pic in Marks link ?

I have tried high temperture epoxy adhesive, one pipe is sealed, the other leaks. I may yet try other lash-up cures, but I am weary, and if DG, or anybody else, would like to try, I wish him luck.
My current dream is to saw through both pipes near the matrix, get good sight of the leak then repair it and rejoin the pipes with hose and hose clips.

Which is, surely, what henryd has just suggested re Marks post. Yes i know, "don't call me surely".  ::)

This was suggested as a last resort previously in Terrys earlier topic about removing the Vectra footwell trim... :y

The genuine seals and clamps are readily available.

Having failed several times to seal the new matrix to its pipes with the washers and clamps supplied with the new matrix, I glued them together with Loctite EA9492. I was aware that if this failed to seal both joins I would have a problem. It failed to seal the upper join; I have a problem. Now I cannot remove the matrix.

My inclination is to scrap the car. Other options: saw through the pipes near the matrix, remove matrix, strive to seal the leak (upper pipe) with EA9492, reassemble with hose and hose clips. Any more?

Car is 2008 manual Vectra petrol 1.8 saloon, MOT expires October 14th, reg.is DN08BOV.

You bought a cheap matrix, so sacrifice that:

cut it off so you can rescue the entire pipes without damaging their ends. A few minutes with a Dremel will work.
Order another matrix plus the genuine clamps and gaskets DG found.
Remove the gunge you applied; gentle heat from a small soldering torch will break down the epoxy, then you can scrape it off. finish with mild abrasives; soapy fine wet&dry and/or scotchbrite
Connect the two pipes with generic hose and clamps to return the car to service until your new parts arrive and you can face redoing the job.

You've not been defeated by much harder jobs, or bigger cockups. Why start now?

Good luck :y

Plumbing all reconnected. Heater still produces no heat. Bother. All that work for nothing. Pipes to heater are both hot.

Well done :y

Blend flap stuck? Have you had the heater panel out? Everything correctly reconnected in the engine bay?(iirc the Vectra doesn't have an hbv, so everything is within the heater box...)

Is there a reset procedure in the handbook? Possibly press and hold Recirc and Eco...

Be mindful that the facelift Vectra C has three different types of aircon: basic aircon (three dials- no auto setting and four switches)Life, Exclusive SRi/single zone climate control (three dials - auto setting on fan speed and four switches) Design, optional on SRi/dual zone climate control (five dials and four switches) Elite and V6 equipped cars.

Model is SRI, pic above shows the display. I cannot find 'reset' instructions in Owner's handbook or Haynes.
