Title: South West/East cambelt party meet 2009
Post by: VX1 on 04 March 2009, 09:23:15
Was thinking about calling it the shires meet or South West meet to try and get more members to come along from further a field that may want to stay over for the weekend? What do people think? Maybe able to pursuaed some admins to come along for the weekend with Tech2's (hint hint)

Been intouch with the site, prices as follow's........

Caravan £7.50-£7.75 per night per unit inc 2 Adults (I think this is for the Rallie site)
Tent pitch  £14.50 per night inc 2 Adults £2 per child (standard pitch)
Tent pitch £16 per night inc 2 Adults £3 per night per child. (Electric Pitch)
Guest's for day visit have access to the park as well and cost's
£6.50 per Adult £5.50 per child

The prices are according to what I have been told. If you want to double check the prices please do.Telephone 0118 932 6444

There is availability for this weekend so please be quick and let me kno and book with the site directly.
We can put our cars into a car park to do work on and show them off to the public as well. I must point out that They have told me we can do repairs to the cars as long as we clear up afterwards and no fluids of any kind are drained on the floor due to being close to the lake. So suitable containers will be needed to drain the cooling system's.

This might be better...

All charges per night include:-

- a unit (Caravan, Motorhome or Car + Tent)
- 2 adults
- FREE entry into the park

Please note, the full fee is required at the time of booking.

Premium Pitch £18.50
Standard Pitch £16.00
Electric Tent Pitch £16.00
Tent Pitch £14.50

Other Charges (per night)

Extra Adult £4.00
Extra Child £3.00 (3 to 15 years)
Awning £1.50
Pup / Child Tent £2.50 (children upto 10 years of age only)
Gazebo £1.50
Dog £1.00
Late Departure £8.00

Edited: Sorry everyone

Yeah, I noticed that :o

As it happens, I probably can't make it, or if I can, likely just for a few hours, so cost doesn't matter to me.

Saying that, if I did have time to make it, I think I'd bring a sleeping bag, just in case the beer stated flowing ;D

I have been to Wellington Country Park today to have alook round also got some info.
Now to use the area inside the park it will cost £150 a day which will give us a marque and bbq. Opening for this is 10 am to 5.30pm. This one there is a discount on admission to the park.

Or there is a field that will be alot cheaper but don't know the cost for this but may be worked out by per car but full price to be paid for admission to the park.

I feel that the second option will be better as not knowing how many peopl will turn up. So far I know of 7 members that are attending for definate. I also feel that it will be best to have the meet on the Saturday rather than the Sunday as it may work for everyone.

Please please if anyone is going to attend this meet for definate please add your name to the confirmed list so I can get numbers and let the people know how many are attending. The more the merrier as it will keep the cost down.

renatuk,

We have a monthly meet in Reading and always end up doing something to someone's car.

This time, Paul (VX1), has ogranised a meet that is solely to carry out repairs to Omega's.

Now I'm confused. Is the meet in the usual place and then off to yours for tea (I mean repairs) or at Welly Park?

Title: Re: South West/East cambelt party meet 2009
Post by: VX1 on 21 March 2009, 11:33:15
Well Mike, as seeing as we only have about 8 members coming that I know of as others haven't replied then I beleive that it would not be viable to go to wellington country Park as this would cost to much for each member. So I think it would be worth sticking to the original place which is at Rivermead. Some members do tend to moan when they say that they want to come to the next Reading meet then don't turn up then say they will turn up if the venue is in a different place, we do that then they don't come along.

Why should we waste our time (meaning usual suspects) to take the time and the effort to organise such events to accomodate other people and they still don't attend, it's either all talk or they just aint gunna attend anyway.

So for future meets they will be at.......
Rivermead car park
Richfield Avenue
Reading

Not going to waste my time and phone calls to setup events like this anymore it's just going to be at the usual place from now on.

Surely we can get more members to turn up, chat, fix things, and then maybe go for a carvery? I thought when we went to the Herts meet last year, they said they were gonna invade one of our meets. Come on then lads, come on down!

Thanks

Yes 12pm at Rivermead If the weather is ok then we can do some fixes at rivermead, if not then we can go to my work place, then we could go into the Carvery for some lunch/Dinner. I will be bring the tool box along for the fixes as someone needs there cambelt doing so that will be done. So if anyone wants anything fixing then please arrive early so we can crack on with it.

Welcome mate.

As mentioned earlier, there is a monthly reading meet - it is supposed to be to discuss all things omega's and have some fun. Paul (VX1) has organised this one & a cambelt party is supposed to allow OOF'ers can DIY a cambelt change with expert help around.

You will need a cambelt kit which consists of a cambelt and the tensioners and rollers, Waterpump. Thats all that's needed but make sure its the cambelt kit and NOT just the cambelt.

I'm up for this, need to get out of the city for a few days, on my long weekend :) plus it'll only take an hour or so. do we pay on arrival or something? can you confirm times everyone will be getting there? Have a slight issue with the gear leaver, when I press the brake it won't release it out of park, have to pull the surround up and flick the leaver, not sure what it is tbh.

We are now meeting at the Rivermead Leisure Centre on Richfiled Avenue, Reading, RG1 8EQ.
I am aiming to get there for about 11.30am

Hopefully you can still make it for a day trip. It'll still your motor the chance to stretch it's legs down the M4.

Right I am just about to leave my house to get a few things done firts then getting to Rivermead. Now if the usual car park is pretty full it might be well worth getting into the next car park which is usually empty but I will check.

See you all soon.

Just got back from a great meet. Good turnout (although alot didn't show) and it was nice to meet some great people.
Carvery afterwards hit the spot too.

Looking forward to meet no. 9 already and can't wait for the pictures.

Thanks
Mike

think a good day was had by all, nice to put some faces to the names you see on here. Next time I'll have to bring my sunscreen, my head is sunburnt! Bring on the next one!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the meet again nice to meet Andy as well and some other new face's as well. Not to sure when Meet No9 is going to be yet as the York meet is in May over the Bank Holiday so may well make it after or miss May altogether.

Nice to to be able to put faces to names today. I think an enjoyable day was had by all!
Also useful to see first hand a coolant flush/change done and headlights being swapped over.
PS.  Thanks to Paul & co. for sorting us out with some drinks :y

SP!

Grow your hair mate, you wouldn't need so much sunscreen then.

Having said that, my forehead is glowing like a beacon. Damn you receeding hairline!

Great meet with great people!

Don't really want to miss May altogether? What about a May meet on 25th April? Or is that too soon. We could try another venue too?

Thanks
Mike
