Omega General Help / Silly jacking question
« on: 15 June 2010, 14:23:04 »
I want to get the whole of the car in the air for a couple of jobs and want to use 4 axle stands. The placement of these has always got me a bit worried as I have dented floorpans before now, so :

Whats the best positions for the axle stands as I will be jacking from the sill points.

Can the back end be lifted as a whole? if so can it be jacked on the diff?

I think an underside picture with the relevant safe points highlighted would be really useful as a sticky in this section if anyone was up for doing one!

Omega General Help / Autobox clunk
« on: 08 June 2010, 19:13:11 »
Seem to have a bit of a "shunt" when changing up going round a right hand corner only, bit strange but first thought is low fluid level?

First sensible thing is to change the fluid and filter but I can't see a guide anywhere, is there one ?

Omega General Help / Code 13 ? drives ok
« on: 02 May 2010, 16:36:59 »
Just got rid of 19 by replacing the crank sensor and was just checking it had cleared and lo and behold I have a bloody new one, 13.  Thing is the car drives really well.

What are the symptoms of an open circuit 02 sensor and the fatal question, how much?

Omega General Help / Crank sensor ?
« on: 13 April 2010, 18:57:28 »
Car cut out today , restarted immediately then died again. No EML on and wouldnt start full stop. waited an hour for the RAC and the tw*t started first time and drove home fine.

Gonna clip it now and guessing I will be seeing the ubiquitous code 19!

Can someone link to a picture of the two plug locations as im hoping mine is at the front near the multi rams

I have a crank sensor but im not sure it's the right one as it has a square end and knowing my luck mine will be oval.

Omega General Help / Doors won't close?????
« on: 08 January 2010, 11:48:55 »
Hilariously( not at -10 ) I am having major problems getting the doors to close in these freezing mornings.

They open easily enough but just wont catch when you shut the buggers! the little hook thingy in the door appears to be free to move as it should, I have lubricated them as well. It's obviously cold related but what a bizarre situation.

Am I alone with this problem?? Is there a solution?

Omega General Help / Nuts cent/locking
« on: 26 November 2009, 18:59:09 »
Having to play a game of catch the button when it's up as every time i pop the remote the doors unlock then instantly lock, at best it locks itself when the door shuts.

Have to remember not to leave the key in the ignition when shutting the garage etc as I only have one!!

Any ideas????

Omega General Help / Found the problem
« on: 04 October 2009, 13:57:39 »
Think I may have sussed the problem with the high lambda reading which caused my MOT fail.

Joint after the pass side cat is leaking badly, only spotted it as there was loads of condensation dripping out after a cold start, amazing how much water there must be sloshing about in the exhaust system!

Will have to bodge it with paste for now and try for the retest this week ::)

Omega General Help / Lambda, where to start?
« on: 26 September 2009, 20:56:32 »
Lambda level is too high and is the last thing preventing my MOT, 1.07 on second fast idle test but should be 1.03 or less.

Whats the best plan of attack to get to the bottom of the problem? there is a split in the ICV pipe would this be a causative factor possibly?

Omega General Help / Did cut the door off!
« on: 09 August 2009, 16:21:54 »
After 2 grinding discs and various cuts I got the bugger off!

No other option other than to slice through the outside, through the impact beams ( rest assured they are beefy ) and attack  the door hinge from the inside.

All this for a rust spot or two.

Omega General Help / Might cut the door off....
« on: 09 August 2009, 12:14:50 »
Unless someone has a genius way of getting the hinge pins out!!!

Trying to replace a rusty rear door with a good one and have it stripped and ready to come off but it wont.

I have a draper pin extractor which I think I am using the right way

 http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Door-Pin-Extractor-Tool-4pc-Sealey-VS801

However the buggers wont budge at all despite oiling them last night, due to the access I cant get access with a drift to knock them through and dont really want to resort to the grinder for the sake of my lovely leather and surrounding paintwork.

Any ideas ?
