Will this fit my '97 omega estate?
« on: 26 February 2011, 19:48:26 »

seen this on ebay and wondered if it would fit?
I know the listing says so, but i dont trust em half the time.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310277906144&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2157wt_905

And if it does fit, anyone else got one and do they look ok?

thanks

I did email the guy and he reckons it fits, but reading it again, the listing says 99>03

Yes re -read the ad, it wont fit, so no need to worry about it looking like you have chopped up a fireguard and stuck it where the grill should be :y

Ultimately, anything will fit anything!   ;D

To me, thats a facelift for fitting into the bonnet recess, not a prefacelift that stays with the grille.

well that caused more disagreement than i thought.

Can i just get one thing clear though.
I'm not stoopid.
I can read.
My point in asking about this was because it LOOKS like it will fit,
It SAYS that it's for a 99>03
BUT the SELLER reckoned it would fit a 97 like mine.... :(

I dont need people to say....."read the listing, says its not for the car (eg, dont ask stupid questions)"
That's not helpful really.  ::)

was looking for clarity where none was provided in the listing and from the seller.

thanks for having a go though guys  :y

The pre and mini facelift bonnet is different from the facelift.

The former leaves the grille behind, attached to the bumper, whilst the latter lifts the grille with the bonnet.

To my eye, that grille is for the facelift as it is similar to the one fitted to my car.

Whether you could adapt it to fit the pre-facelift is upto yourself.

The OOFers who responded were only attempting to answer your query, be that rightly or wrongly.........

To add, if the seller stated in the listing its for a 99-03 model, then thats a facelift.  For him to say it will also fit a pre/mini facelift, given that he is selling an item and not simply offering informed advice, well, make a choice, I say....

My recollection of the grille on my pre-facelift was that it had a peg at the bottom in the middle that fitted in a grommet in the bumper and two screw fixings at the top.

If the e-bay picture is of the item for sale then I would say it is for pre-facelift (and won't fit a facelift).

I second that
The pic is identical to the grill fitted to my old 98 mini facelift

HA,

so you can see my dilemma.
I've not got money to be chucking at it. Hence looking for a reasonable badgeless grill replacement that's not going to cost me £100 or so.

I give up lol.
I'll just leave it standard for a while lol

i think i have one of those as shown in the advert in my shed, i took it out of my minifacelift as soon as i bought it , so yes it will fit your prefacelift  :y  i took it out of the car because it really does look cheap and nasty but for the cost of postage i will send it to you then you can see for yourself, i mean £24.99 that is a total rip off m8, send me a pm with your address and i will send it to you forget the postage and then you will see how bad they actually are, you are really better saving and buying a decent one  :y
ohhh as a bonus it wont be cluttering up  my shed  ;)

Ha, well on one hand i want to say cheers, here's my address, and on the other hand i am of course reluctant as it seems the general consensus is that they look BAAAAAAD.

Sooo, options.
I'll cover your postage if you send it to me. And then if anything, it'll just sit in MY shed instead?
deal?
lol :y

Don't do it that grill is absolutely hideous. It looks more B&Q then Irmscher.

Keep it and put it to some use across the top of the barbeque keeping the sausages and burgers warm  ;)
