I'm finding this strangely appealing, only done 900k :) I think Steven Fry uses a cab as a runabout so they can't be that crap

If I had a pound for every time i've seen that thing over the last ten years...

...I'd only have 3 pounds...  But still, it does keep escaping the jaws of death thanks to those retro nutters.  ::)

Ain't it just.

Indeed. I like to keep an eye on a couple of old acquaintances and their hair brained rust adventures there  :)

Are you sure? They are bloody awful in every way. The seating position makes a Land Rover seem comfortable, and the rest of the driving experience is worse. Mechanically they are only about 40 years out of date, but you won't think that if you try one. Which you should, just to get it out of your system :y

Having driven both a Metrocab and the god awful TX Fairway, I would take the Metrocab every single time...

The first company I worked at had some dubious management with some even more dubious contacts, and in their infinite wisdom, decided to replace a fleet of ageing and rusty, but utterly dependable Mk3 and 4 Transits with a fleet of old Fairways and one Metrocab. The Metrocab was palatial compared to the rest of them put together, but they were all equally hateful pos... if I were daft enough to run a black cab in Lundun, it would be the Mercedes Vito SWB with rear wheel steering or Shanks' pony, but never an LTI offering :-X
