Title: Temporary Car Insurance
Post by: MutantCav on 23 June 2009, 22:56:20
Ok so my Omega has tax and MOT until July 3rd...when (if not a little sooner) it will be broken for parts

Just bought a dual fuel Zafira which I am going to be using instead from now on so will swap my insurance over to it

However I still occasionally need to use the Omega until its scrapped...

Where is the best place to go to get insurance on the Omega for a week or 2 weeks max??

Get on the Internet, you will find daily insurance deals, has even been one advertised on the tv recently, but can't remember the company, sorry..... :)

Day Insure at 11 quid for the day or so I use it sounds fine...not sure why my insurance company wants to hike my insurance up by £40 for the last month before its due for renewal though changing from a 3.0v6 to a dual fuel 1.8...

Could it be to do with the actual value of the vehicle - think the Zaffy is worth a bit more than most Migs (Except certain black elites with 40k on the clock!!).

I was looking at day rates but personally I think that it is a rip-off, insure on an annual basis, pay monthly and cancel as soon as you get rid of it. That way the car will always have some insurance cover (unless you do 3rd party t&t). £11 a day!!! Mine is £360 a year with NO ncd, work that out per month and number of days, take of the hassle factor for setting up each days insurance and I know what I did  :D
