Omega General Help / fault- limp mode only usually on start up
« on: 11 July 2011, 14:29:04 »
Hi guys- newbie so sorry if I get it wrong.
Car- X reg omega estate 2.2 16v CD estate first reg 2001- 103k miles.
Problem. every fifth start or so engine lights go on and all I get is limp mode power. Fault not usually whilst running but this has happened three times now- but not whilst under load.
If I turn the ignition on and off fault clears after between 3 and twenty attempts- then ok for between three days and a week or so.
Took in for code readings.. was told best to replace potentiometer ? did that but fault remains. Took in for code reading this am... still points to potentiometer-but as that has been replaced- not likely. They reflashed ecu with most up to date version (2002?) . Its been suggested next step is to send away ecu - and if that doesn't fix it then next likely thing is faulty connection on wiring loom. So the question is have any of you seen anything like this before and what is your advice as I don't want to incur another bill and still have a faulty car ? Thanks in advance
