UK Public Alert Test

Sunday 23 April 2023 at 3pm
England, Northern Ireland and Scotland

The alert will say:

This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a new UK government service that will warn you if there’s a life-threatening emergency nearby.

In an actual emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others safe.

Visit gov.uk/alerts for more information.

This is a test. You do not need to take any action.

Theres allways some scaremonger about. :-X

I believe that it's smartphones only, so i should be blissfully unaware with my old Blackberry.  :-[ :D

I will be flying back from Nashville. Wonder if they will play it on the aurcraft... ;D

Joking aside, I wonder if there's actually something coming...

The world seems hell bent on getting everyone wasted on Cannabis and methamphetamine so that they don't notice, or care, about anything.  :-\

When I lived in Vietnam, there where loud speakers on many of the lamp posts around Ho Chi Minh City, and every so often they'd crackle into life and a message would be broadcast. A Vietnamese friend told me they were public service messages along the lines of Do not get drunk! Do not drink and drive! Do not beat your wife! Be a good citizen!  ::)

I expect that we will enjoy similar messages from His Majesties Government sent direct to our mobiles.  :)

On Android, it's right at the bottom as Wireless Emergency Alerts, as Migalot suggested.  :y
