.....this delightful item!

It just turned 22K miles on the journey to Melton Mowbray and is at L&H (who I recommend!) for an MOT

Finaly managed to get some shed space for my little hobby item and made a start today on cutting out some of the rot etc.

Here is a pic of progress, most of it aluminium (sides etc) but the fronts and rear are steel, hence the need to do a bit of welding!

Things are so going down hill these days, the average skill level of these repair men is so bloody awful its shocking.

Just been looking at a number of issues for friends who are paying monthly payments for service care and there all being miss diagnosed and resulting in long repair times and sometimes VERY expensive repair costs.

My advice to anybody on this forum is DONT buy these useless service plans, if your worried about such things, set up an account and pay the monthly cost into it.....then find a GOOD (good luck) local person to do your repairs/servicing.

In the mean time, I will continue doing it myself, getting a better quality job done and for less of MY hard earned!

General Discussion Area / On days like these.....

....and no, I am not thinking of the Matt Monro song or watching the opening credits to the Italian Job (the proper one not the crap remake).

Today has been one of THOSE days.

Dam series 3 Land Rover failed the MOT on brake light, a knackered front shackle bush and a brake fault.

Had to work LATE on an EC report as the project officer is a miserable french witch who has ignored the 8 week reporting rules and moved the goal posts.

And tomorrow I am off to Helmond.

Great fun!

General Discussion Area / Elsenham station crossing deaths
« on: 01 February 2012, 08:51:48 »
Is it just me or are Network Rail being used as scape goats on this one.

for info, the report is here:

http://www.raib.gov.uk/cms_resources.cfm?file=/061211_R232006_Elsenham.pdf

These girls crossed the line whilst the warning lights and sirens were still sounding, they were consequently hit by a train. The signs state:

'cross only when green light shows'

'cross quickly'

The lights and warning buzzer were working.

The 'clause' Network rail were hung on was that there has been a recommendation for some years to fit locking gates where possible. However these have big issues as they can potentialy lock pedestrians inside the crossing.

I hate to say it but, it looks very much like a case of miss adventure rather than a man slaughter issue.

This was on page two of a certain (not plane related) magazine that I get from an owners club:

Turns out the full story is here:

But thats one hell of an opportunist shot in the days when cameras were not common place.

Omega General Help / V6 estate rear wiper
« on: 10 October 2011, 16:27:39 »
Matchless popped round in his Omega estate last week which was sporting a Corsa C rear wiper blade.

Not only are these cheaper than the Omega ones but they also appear to be more compliant and hence wipe more of the glass!
