Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio
« on: 03 February 2017, 18:17:06 »

Just had my cousin pop round to see me after my op got his own bookies, he has recently bought one of the new Alfa's I've seen the ad on TV & commented on it to SWMBO as being a lovely looking car.The spec on his is great 2.9 V6 Bi Turbo but I could not believe it cost over £60,000! I know he works awfully long hours, but the punters must be losing an awful lot of cash.

Why wouldn't it cost that much? its a 510hp super saloon that sounds better than an M3, looks better too.
Don't think he will be loosing much more money than if he bought an AMG C-class/M3/RS4..

I am out of touch with new car prices  being old, only paid £80,000 for my 5 bedroom house, not trying to argue about the price but got to agree it is a lovely sounding & looking car.

Lovely car.

I would very much like one of these. :y

I assume that's for the basic spec. Top of the range is over £100,000.

I imagine he thought it more flawed than an M3 but less clinical and sterile.

Despite their reputation[deserved or not]for unreliability and build quality issues they do make some beautiful cars. The GTV6 I had back in the early 80's was a glorious thing-far and away better than a Capri.

Alfa has come a long way since the 90's. From the 159 and up they have become pretty good and reliable. Of course they still have some problems. So does Mercedes, Audi and BMW. But they are not the ticking bombs they used to be anymore. I know somebody who runs a 159 and never had any big problems. Not to mention that it's hard to find something that looks better than an Alfa, which is why people used to forgive them and the reason Alfa is still around. The 159 is beautiful as is the Brera, 156 GTA and the GT. The Giulia is also nice, if not a bit too Audi from some angles. But RWD makes it all fine! :y

Just in after a few hours in South London went down with the cousin to visit his mum, the Alfa is gorgeous I have never known a car to turn so many heads . The exhaust note is just superb had a drive of it on the way back the only small criticism I have is the driving position is not as comfortable as my Merc. Would I like one ? Definitely will see how he fares with this one could see it in my garage one day. 😉

If it depreciates as well as a good Alfa should I could certainly be tempted. :y

500 BHP in a relatively small car should make it entertaining.

Alfas are great fun to drive and one of the best looking cars out there. The later ones seem to have worked out the indecent reliability problems.

I have already decided that a Giulia is in my near future. It's a show stopper for sure and drives so nicely, like Alfas do.
