Title: Opel omena winterbeater
Post by: Jsp on 30 November 2015, 16:51:04
This is my winterbeater omega.. I pretty much run it hard and fix it as it breaks. So far it has positively surprised me. The v6 seems to have a fair amount of power.
Even though it has 360 000km's to it. It still has lots of punch left.. When i floor it, it really kicks you back to the seat.

Here are some pics:

Summer:

Fresh pics with bad cam:

The jack mount points have the plastic broken.. The clips are no longer there so they fell off.. I'm searching for replacement parts but if i can't find them then i'll just drill and stitch them back with zipties. #BCUZDRIFTSTITCH!

Not too rusty:

Dipstick placement:

Under the hose so a little bit annoying to check the oil levels.. Good thing it doesn't consume oil so no problem!

That oil cap:

The person who thought this was a good idea should be shot. I need a funnel to add oil to the engine..

In case you're wondering what i drive in the summer:

What's wrong with the 2.5 gasoline?

Well... if you insist on asking ;D

It's about 40bhp and 100nm light compared to the 3.2, has stupidly unnecessary plumbing all over the engine, which incidentally is probably why you fitted allloy cam covers, to save repeating the job... head gaskets are made of cheese, and apparently 0-100kph is 9.5 seconds... which is long enough to make a pot of tea... :P

That said, that's a decent mileage by any standard :y

Prolly vectra camber cases, because original omega b ones are made from plastic and proper problem are they will go curved and vectra ones are made from aluminium and they fit 1:1 only thing oil cap are other place.
Had same enginge omega few years ago and i had leaking problem with camber cases, bought new ones originals for 178 eur each coz demoltions were ran out from vectra cases  ;D

But most ppl say that 3.0 are quite same fuel consump than that 2,5

Man the tail is happy on this one.. I turned off the T/C and put it in second gear.. Full throttle and dump the clutch and boom it goes. Had some audience too.
Sporty feeling wagon. I gotta take more pics once the weather gets better.
