Omega General Help / Couple of problems with the ex wife's mig.

I'm down in Barnstaple visiting the ex-missus at the moment and her Omega has a couple of problems. It's a 1998 2.5 V6 CDX Estate and the first thing is that when I tried to pull the bonnet release, it wasn't releasing the bonnet so gave it a few tugs and the damn lever came off completely. The cable is still attached to the lever and I was able to release the bonnet by getting hold of the whole lever and pulling it. Is this fixable or will it need a new lever?
Second problem I noticed when driving it was that the accelerator pedal appeared to have too much play in it - you need to press it down about 1/2" before feeling the throttle react. Is this a case of adjusting the throttle cable?
Lastly, the temp gauge didn't move until after around 10 mins of driving and even then it only moved just off the minimum mark. My guess is that the thermostat's on it's way it, although the cabin seems to be heating ok.
I'm useless with car mechanics myself but she has got a pretty handy mechanic who works on her car from time to time so just need a bit of advice to identify the problems unless there's anyone if the North Devon area that could help out.
