I found this piece of plastic in the back of my car and I've no idea what it is or where it comes from. Any ideas?

Nah, it's definitely got GM stamped on it.

They may be laying a false trail.  
Can't identify your thingy Bob, but it looks like some sort of cap to go into a hole round a plunger of some sort.

Could be part of a plastic insert to hold car mat in place.

It was rolling around in the load area (estate car) but I'd had the back seats down and just putting them back up when I noticed it.

It's 2" diameter so too big for mats. I was wondering if it was anything to do with the seat belts or seat fold down mechanism. :-/

Dont think it will be......dunno if this applies on prefacelifts.....but on facelift estates you dont have to remove the rear headrests to fold the seats down......you just press a button by the headrests and they fold down out of the way  

Its not off the boot floor is it Bob? to hold boot flooring down.......the fixings on mine are missing coz its raised up an inch or two to acommodate the lpg tank underneath.

Dont spose theirs a GM part number stamped on it is there?.......could do a search for the PN if there was.

Given that it looks like a blanking plug of some sort, why not just keep it in your toolbox/glovebox and don't worry about it until you stumble across it's origin?
