haha, yep, those old Isuzu 1.7TD's are pretty bomb proof, my old 93L Cav TD GLS had over 200k on the clock when it finally died (I paid £46 for that off Ebay as it was advertised as needing a head gasket), and 'Mazzie' has done 156k, we bought her on 72k in Feb 2007 :)

Prior to 'Morticia' (the Omega I had), I had a 93L Astra Convertible - which we removed the 2.0i engine and other stuff from, and converted to a 1.7TDS from an Astra Estate - it was quite a complicated conversion, as anyone who saw my build WIP on MK3OC.com will have seen, but when finished, the car owed me about £350, and it paid for itself really quickly running on veggie oil, and I had it for about 3yrs before I sold it on for £625 to buy the Omega - really miss that car, but its still going strong, the lad who bought it off me has done 45k in 18mths, and he took it to Billing again last weekend :)

One of our other (Satin Red) Cavalier's runs on bio fuel, that's a 95/M 1.7TD GLS, with Diplomat leather, auto closure of front and rear windows, electric roof, built in full colour sat nav where the ash tray would normally go (we dont smoke), and a twin fuel tank set up with 6 port fuel switch over valve and flat plate heat exchanger.  We've modified the fuel filters to ones from an Astra 1.7cdti, as they are easier and less messy to change then Cavalier ones.

This will be up for sale in the next 12mths, we're getting a Mk1 Ph1 Renualt Espace 2.1TD eventually to replace it - but we've had 'Mazzie' as she's known since Feb 2007, done around 85,000 miles in her, and we reckon, saved around £8,000 by not buying diesel for her.  On that basis, we dont mind spending a few quid here and there on her come MOT time.

Our 3rd Cavalier, is my 1989 1.6L (carb), in Astro Silver (very rare), which is awaiting restoration, and has GLi interior, CD alloys, and will have electric roof, electric windows all round and an LPG conversion.  She's also got the built in sat nav same as Mazzie, and we've altered a period radio cassette to have an aux input so that I can plug in an iPod or MP3 player without the car looking like its got a flash stereo that is worth nicking.

its ours, we dont use it any more, its taking up space, and we need to release funds to finish building the new garage and do some work on our other project cars.

I went down to Bristol yesterday and put a deposit on the replacement for Morticia :)

Pick it up next Saturday, I got a Renault Grand Scenic 'Maxim' 1.9dCi 6spd, fully loaded, one owner, FSH, low miles, new MOT and 12m tax included too :)

A nice family fun bus ready for the new baby when it gets here in a few months, and our forthcoming holiday to France :)

Leak of what?

Garage said they'd sorted the oil leak - and you've got the receipts to show work done - or is it PAS fluid from jubilee clip?

Hope its an easy fix x

lol at the banter!

Never noticed a smell of eggs before - could it be the new exhaust section bedding in?

I was tempted to get an Irmy grille for her, but never got around to it - I think it would really set her off tbh.

Morticia will look great when you've worked your magic on her.   :y

BTW, contact LPG Conversions in Heanor who did the LPG service last year, they should have put her on the LPG register.

I never did a gearbox oil change, it was one of those things on the 'to do' list.....

Got a lovely video of you driving off yesterday, it looked really good when Jase pulled away at the same time and the 2 black Migs went off up the road together - brought a tear to the eye .....

Anyway, I'm on the hunt for my new mini-MPV now there's space on the drive again - might just have found what I want in Birmingham too :)

Hugs to Morticia, hope she gives you many years of faithful and reliable service  :y

Symes, I don't think your mate has all his dogs on one lead.

I concur, you should remind him at every possibility.

DOnt worry she will be looked after already starting a list of things that need looking at and doing to her. Wont be for a bit due to weather and work but once i have some time at home i will be sorting her out :y

so glad you've saved her from my stepson who wanted her for a banger rally round Southern Europe this year :)

Sold it !   :'(

Gonna miss the old barge, but she's gone to a great home - I'll be sure to check in on OOF in the future to see how she's getting on :)
