When we were looking for a runabout in SW Scotland a lot of good cars popped up "within distance" but in Northern Ireland.
Are there any issues with buying a vehicle from NI? (apart from cost of getting it over on the ferry to say Stranraer)
This one caught my eye but is quite a specialised offering with the panels and body wrap for a start.

Does indeed. Can't help with the question though...
-
Shouldn't be a problem :y
I did it the other way round with no issues. You may want to re-register though as our plates are totally different.
-
Can you go over to Ireland , pick the car up and drive it back legally or does it have to be car transported until its re registered :-\
-
Certainly no issues in the North.
When I say re register I mean purely the number plate - different formats here - but it's not a legal requirement. As long it's road legal you can drive straight home. Even if it's not, chances are you could get it home without issue and sort it then.
If the car is from the south, that's a different story I'd imagine, as strictly speaking you'd be importing it from outside the UK.

I would keep that number, plates from NI are legal over here, my Jeep had an Irish reg....... :y :y

You can keep the NI plates on if you want to. Its maybe ok now, but 20/30 years ago it would be lifted if you left it anywhere near a police station/army barracks/train station.
Vice versa, you really didn't want to drive in NI with mainland plates.
-
Indeed!
Thankfully we've moved on a little (allegedly) since those days ???
