Hi all.
I can now confirm that the High Wycombe meet will be on May 7th Bank Holiday Monday
Address is....Hazlemere Community Centre, Rose Avenue, Hazlemere, High Wycombe, Bucks HP15 7UB
Access from M1, M25, M40 is easy. Our car park is fully tarmac and can accomodate 60+ vehicles..if you get my drift ;)
We should have exclusive use of the Centre and carpark as last year. Gazebo/s available for certain repairs if the weather is poor. I expect, if the turnout is as good as the last two meetings, there will be trolley jacks, ramps, axle stands, spanners and sockets available, but please, no big oil drops !! Hopefully Tech 2's readings available.
Swmbo will be on duty for Bacon/Sausage rolls, etc. Tea and Coffee, and I will open the bar. BBQ if anyone wants it. Pool table available
Indian, Fish and Chips and Chinese takeaways close by, and a new Domino's takeaway pizza place has also just opened.
I will be on site from 11.00am...lets hope a good turnout
I would appreciate a response if you are likely to come so we can estimate rolls/bacon/sausages etc :y

I would like to book someone who is attending (subject to weather).....to help/do my central locking motor, if this is a car park jobbie, also a tech 2 readout please.
Not for nothing I might add :y

I'm sure we can sort the door motor in a jiffy :y it'll be cleaner than the drop links for sure ::)
-
Assuming childcare can be arranged, do I need to bring anything (other than a mig!)?
J

Food/beer tokens and any bits that need fitting as long as not oily or fluid filled :y

I'll have you know it was 100% workload keeping a certain white 3.2 manual on the road, let alone navigation. :o
.. and we were already lost when I took over. ::)
-
Ill try my best to make an apperance in my old girl :y :)

Is it possible to get a contact number, I know some people are funny about giving their numbers out but its just the last time i drove to a OOF meet i got a little lost and i could'nt find it, so i ended up driving a long way for nothing, so i dont really want to do that again as i would like to go to a OOF meet :)

LOL, Oxfordians, like a fish out of water once they are outside the ring road (or bypasses as locales call it) ;D. Just like Milton Keynies when they have to leave the grid :P

Never trust a cabbie to know where they're going ::) besides everyone knows that if you turn right once, then left three times then right again you'll always end up where you started :P
The starting point in this case happened to be back in Winchester rather than where we actually started :-[ :-X

I'm awful with faces. To me, a new person's face has no features. I discussed this with my best mate, and he suffers similar. We reckon it may be all those years of visiting customers' homes.

Opposite problem here. I can always remember a face. It's remembering the name that goes with it and where the break I saw it before that gets embarrassing. ::)

This is THE meet to come too,Chris and Tony pull out all the stops to make every one welcome, also I think there's a Premier Inn not to far away and they do a reasonable room rate, last year it was £29 and a few members stayed there the night before the meet, the plan is to do the same this year and then perhaps meet up for a meal then off to try some of the local falling down water ;) :y
-

May years ago, when working for (what was then) British Telecom, I went into a customer's house, had chatted too her about the phone problem, had gone upstairs into the master bedroom and was taking the socket apart when she said "<my name>", which sent a chill down my spine, how did she know my name, "you don't remember me?". This last bit sent a bigger chiver down my spine, as I then reconised the voice... ...my primary school 2nd year (year 5 in modern language) teacher, who, how can I put it, lets just say at school I wasn't the best pupil in the class.
I had held a 2 or 3 minute conversation in the hallway with her, eye to eye contact, and not reconised her until she said :-[

As for the meet, all being well, I should be able to make it :y

Scary. :o
Mrs. KW and I were sitting in a bar in Canada once. I heard a bloke laugh behind me, and calmly said to mrs. KW "is that <school friend from 20 years ago> behind me?".
It was. ;D

Query for Terbert.
gayboyGixer raises a valid point. Is Mrs Terbert doing rolls, or is BBQ coming out? Just need to know what to bring - money or pig ;D
-
Looks like the weather's going down the cr***er for the weekend as usual, gonna sell the cars, house and move to where the sun shines a bit more than this god forsaken country >:( ::)still going to turn up though ;)
-
Mrs Terbert is doing Salad Rolls, Sausages in rolls, plus onions etc as other additives. Probably get some bacon too. We have found out how the big oven works now so can cook quickly. Basically everything as previous meets. :y
If weather is good ( and the man on Magic just now said it could be ok ) we can have the BBQ if you want it. :y
As we have exclusive use, people can get takeaways to eat in, or get Pizza's delivered from Dominoes.
The world is our oyster. ;)
-
Didn't want Mrs T to get loads of stuff in, then we all end up having BBQ instead :-\
-
Not to worry, Jamie....
We are off to the pikey van the next day, so anything left will come with us....I'll clear it up over the next week.
Will leave it up to you whatever you bring.... :y We have always covered ourselves on what we have brought in the past and have not had a lot left over....hungry gutted oofs ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
the weather for monday looks good looking at forecast.... :y

If the BBC are to be believed, rain is not forecast until around 4pm on Monday although it's gonna be a bit chily at 10° C.
If anybody is bringing a set of spring compressors and is up for it, I'd like to change the springs on the Beemer to help reduce the garage bill I have coming to me on Tuesday.
Naturally it would be nice to get all 4 springs done in one go, but if we could at least get the rears done that would shave an hour off the bill for me (book time for both the front springs is 2 hours).
I'll be bringing the following:
Myself
Small selection of hand tools inc trolley jack & 6 ton axle stands
Laptop
Portable hard drive filled to the gunnels with popular software
Blank CD's & DVD's
Red meat (if BBQ is on)
Ritalin (to stop me getting carried away)
Tramadol (to mask the pain from my bowel op)
I'm sure I'll think of more later on, but that's about it for now.
-
If swmbo lets me out to play I will pop over now I have an Omega again :y

The last 3 series rear springs I changed were a doddle... Drop the bottom shock mount and they will fall out without lowering the diff ;)
Hopefully yours will be as easy :y
-
Does anyone have a tool to pull the stereo out? The display doesn't always work so i thought i would check the rear connections.
Also would appreciate if someone tried to lift my rear blind whilst i press the button as it just clicks now :'( Thanks

i do have radio removal keys/tools....failing them kevin wood is very good with a pair of mole grips lol.... :y

As long as he's only using the grips on you're radio you'll be quite safe :o

I'll let Martian off, as he has a proper beemer. Might even have indicators. Maybe. Nah, don't be sily ;D

M3? They go for reasonable money these days, like to see how easy they are to work on. Not sure i can make it though

No. I meant proper beemer, as in 20+ years old, not the junk they make now

M3's still good though, if i ever went two door, would be a contender, along with a Monaro. Beemer would prob hold its value better

Not familiar with these obviously, so no promises, but lets see what we can do M. ;)
-
The last 3 series rear springs I changed were a doddle... Drop the bottom shock mount and they will fall out without lowering the diff ;)
That's pretty much what the Youtube vids show, and the only possible problem I can foresee is if the bottom shock mount is secured by the "ba$tard" bolt. Official book time for both sides is 0.95, which would also indicate it is a pretty simple job (famous last words ;D )
thought this was an omega meet???.......

Funny you should say that.
I got a tug yesterday as the Beemer wasn't showing as insured on the MID and the copper asked if I knew why he had stopped me.
I went through a list of possibles (drifted slightly over speed limit, brake light out, etc) and the copper replied (with a deadpan straight face) "Your indicators appear to work sir" ;D
It made a nice change to encounter a plod who had a sense of humour and wasn't up his own ar$e, and once he confirmed that I did have insurance I was on my merry way with no problems (or tickets).
M3? They go for reasonable money these days, like to see how easy they are to work on. Not sure i can make it though
Not an M3, just an M-Sport (sometimes known as M-Tech).
The M-Sport pack consists of gearstick, steering wheel, lowered & stiffened suspension, full (colour coded) body kit, bigger wheels/tyres, slightly tuned motor, and a few other little odds & sods.
A quick look on Autotrader & the Bay shows the average price to still be around the £1300 mark for the same model as mine, although not one of them had done less than 100K and they all had multiple previous owners (ours is one former owner, full BMW history, and a proveable 50K on the clock).
You'll get to see it on Sunday morning anyway ;)
I'll give him some matches for it. ...might even invest some patrol as well. ;D
Not familiar with these obviously, so no promises, but lets see what we can do M. ;)
Cheers for that Chris :y
Just in case you are interested (or for reference), pics of my suspension setup are below (click pics for bigger image).
I know the diagram is for the E30, but it also applies to mine as well.

Not sure if my Mum's is an M-sport or not. Same 318iS badging as yours, 140bhp IIRC. Goes well enough. Reckon it would stand a chance of keeping a 3.2 auto Omega honest up to around 60/70mph (when the 3.0/3.2 autos come on song).
Her's (K reg, 1992) is just starting to go on rear wheel arches. Not sure how many miles she's done, about 80k last time I looked, but she does rack up the miles the older she gets ;D
-
The last 3 series rear springs I changed were a doddle...
I'll let Martian off, as he has a proper beemer. Might even have indicators. Maybe. Nah, don't be sily ;D

As long as chris has his impact gun you should be fine ;) ;) IIRC the last set I changed (admittedly on a 2 post lift) took me under 30 mins for the pair ;) :y
-
Need to check my spring compressors will work/fit before we start the front. But doesn't "look" to bad.

I do'nt usually come to the meets to get help with a problem, but this time I really could do with a bit of practical help in regards to the two glove compartment covers and the fuse box cover as I've got this far with an interior change and I really cannot grasp how to do them.Durr ::)If I bring them along is there some one who would be willing to have a crack at doing them with me as the gopher or is this a bit to much of a job to be doing at a meet?
:-[
-
Hi all never been to a meet and I am actually free on monday so will be attending as its an easy journey from the other half's. I have some EML issues that have baffled me and could do with some help. I look forward to meeting up with you all
-
Just to clear up a point on my last post,It'll be myself who will be assuming the role of the Gopher as I understand clearly that I possess the skill levels required to do the job of Gopher/Dogsbody, as it's just been pointed out to me by SWMBO.. ::)
-
Ken...don't know about the too big bit...I seem to remember Radar's engine spread over the car park last time ;D ;D ;D ;D
And don't forget Taxi-Al wegded under my wings ;D ;D ;D
It seems there is going to be a spring change going on too...plus hopefully my CL and sterio problems......
We want a bit of decent weather or a few gazeebo's.
And.....Delroy47....more than welcome :y
This looks like being a bumper meet....scuz the pun ;D Just sent swmbo off out for supplies :y Bacon may be off tho...she turned her nose up when I said :(
-
Hmmmmmmmm....no bacon
But she has turned up with 48 Chicken Drumsticks ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

I'll remove the Smokie cassette with my eyes closed, but that doesn't mean you'll hear the end of it ;) ;)
-
I'm cleared to attend so will head over for lunch. You'll hear me coming as the exhaust is starting to blow a little!

I'm sure you will know much more than me Ken on how to do this but i've got an old haynes manual somewhere i could bring - might give some pointers even if it doesn't cover facelifts?
-
That's very kind and thoughtfull of you Mark BUT I cant find that procedure in the Haynes manual,SO I'm gonna pass on that offer, unique and inovatative as it may be!! :o ::)
-
That's good of you Radar thanks, but what I need is the knowledge from someone who has done this particular job because I've not got a clue in all honesty, :-[ ::)
-
I know what your saying Ken, no worries.
-
Be good to see you again :y
-
And you - one of the many good things about this meet is that even if it rains it doesn't matter. Was just trying to persuade SWMBO to pop down but she has promised to take little'un to Legoland - fair enough
-
i have always want to goto lego land.....bit sad being as i am not a child anymore..... :y
-
I live local to it and have a pass so try and go when it is not so busy, otherwise it would completely do my nut in with queueing times and shortness of rides. The silly thing is in my day going there would be a major league treat yet it seems par for the course for kids now and a trip to the park for them is more of a novelty. Sorry gone off topic i know - refocus
-
Same for us,Mark and Lisa can come and stay one weekend and we can drop Mark at Legoland then we can all go down the pub. Sorted :y
-
Happy days all round!

think i would far rather the pub tbh..... :y
-
I will be along but I'm juggling the meet with the kit car show at Stoneleigh so will be along late (but in time for the curry ::)).
I'll bring you a central locking motor, Terbert, so if you can get the old one taken out ready we can pop it in.
-
Thanks for the offer Kevin....I have one here I bought from Albs :y Just been 'scared' to fit it....case of 'if you don't know what you are doing, leave well alone'... ;D ;D :y
As to Curry....we will go up the crossroads tomorrow and get some Takeway menus for curry and for Pizza's. Fish and Chip shop just a bit further for them what needs ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes...I put 11.00am, because there is a Zumba class on in the main hall from 9.30am till 10.30am. I knew you would not want to watch a load of bums and boobs in leotards etc writhing around to disco music, plus they should be clear of the car park by 11.00am :y
I will be there long before that in reality, should anyones timing be a bit out, so no probs :y

Unfortunately it looks unlikely I'll be able to come over for this :( I wanted to but it's hard to justify coming down there tomorrow and then again 3 days later ::)
Have a great day guys (and gals) and if I have a change of heart in the morning I'll jump in the car! :y :y

Yes, big thanks for setting up the meet. Was very nice to put some faces to names, even if I cannot remember which face fits which alias or real name! If you need any contributions to costs then let us know and we'll arrange a bank transfer.
Thanks also to Rob(?!) for showing up in his Monaro. What a lovely machine, although the tyre lifetime came as a bit of a shock.
All the best all,
J.
-
We would also like to say a big thank you to Chris and Tony for their great hospitality today and would like to wish Chris a very happy retirement next month with long sunny days in Dorset and a High Wycombe meet every week ;) ::)
-
You fed up with life Ken ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Good do once again. Thanks guys. See you next time? :y
-
I'd like to echo the above comments. As always, it was a great meet, with thanks to Tony and Chris! It was good to meet some new faces aswell.
-
gutted i couldn't be there, in the middle of a job, client insurance paid studio rebuild after a burst pipe , with a completion deadline of 2pm this thursday , couldn't risk taking the day off. in fact haven't had a day off for 2.5 weeks.
be a nice pay day if i finish on time , (but penalties if late.... as there are sessions booked starting at 2pm thursday.... which i get to cover the lost turnover on if we're late)
currently knocking up 18 hour days and i'm knackered.
-
ditto gutted i could not make it said i would but had to get a roof closed off ready for fitting out wifey even took the week off so she could get the bank holiday off at work not told her i got to work all week yet to catch up for lost time bloody weather blah blah :y :y its : the dog house for me :(
-
I was going so that I could return kevin's radio keys, but twisted back on saturday and couldnt sit down or drive :'( Looks like we missed a good day.
-
Big thanks to tony and christine for looking after us again - hope the doset weather is kind to you! Thanks to Tunnie and TB for looking at my car and to Mark for bringing stereo tools down (even though i borrowed some from elsewhere in the end!) :y :y
-
Was a good afternoon/evening once I finally made it ::)
Thanks again to Chris and Tony for their efforts. Was good to see some familiar faces and a couple of new ones.
Thanks also to TB and Kevin for helping to sort my drivers seat. I'll make sure I've got some actual solder next time tather than that silver choclate paste :-[
-
Sorry for late response - last 10 miles or so coming home was 'a tad moist', and I had to go slow, so didn't get in until midnight.
Huge thanks to terbert and Mrs terbert, its an excellent venue, and we're lucky to be able to occasionally use it. Of course it would be nice if terbert could arrange a meet on a day when it was dry :P ;D ;D
Another thoroughly enjoyable day, and great to see a few new faces, although with familiar ones - thanks everyone for making the effort to come :y
-
:yThank you to Tony and Chris and Mrs Nitro (sorry didnt get your name) First time I have been to a Wycombe meet hope to come to the next one :y
-
I'll just echo the congrats to Chris & Tony for a great meet, Although next time could you try & get some other pre facelifts to attend as I felt like the odd one out being the only one :'(, come to think of it i was the only diesel as well :D. ( I now await the sarcastic remarks!).
-

You don't need to tell me that. :o My @rse was sore this morning from all the buttock clenching. Got in at about 12:20. Realised I'd done Newbury to Four Marks the twisty way in 30 minutes in the wet. :-[
Got up this morning to a half decent gliding forecast. bu66er. I'm going to have to go. Couple of hours of scratching around in weak thermals then a long winch driving shift then dinner. Got in about an hour ago. I'm about to drop.
Anyway, Thanks echoed for another great meet, as we've come to expect. :y
