General Car Chat / Re: Volvo S80 T6...
« on: 05 July 2016, 00:54:34 »
Driven a S80 V8 AWD - not a bad car, typical solid Volvo - better than the first generation S80s (up to 2006), and certainly more poke than the T6.  Certainly better than a Ford Focus  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Top right from front of engine is Power Steering Pump pulley, which is indeed driven by the aux belt.

General Car Chat / Re: Thanks Serek

Oh....and don't drink the water.
According to Gixer, that's Northamptonshire.  It makes you have a desire to never spend more than 99p and get suckered into "bargains" because of a 99.9% sale.

Huntingdon is in Cambridgeshire...

No you're wrong Jaime - you know Gixer was/is never wrong despite being a t**t

However the real purpose of my post is my thanks also to Serek - spent part of today over at his place having some work done on the 2.6 Estate.  At my age can't be rsed any more to crawl under motors.  His is a very professional setup, carrying out the work as you require, to a high standard, with attention to detail and checking all work done.  Plus you get coffee, good conversation and the opportunity to watch the work being carried out.  On top of that prices are very reasonable.

SOS get my recommendation any day - thanks mate!!

Omega General Help / Re: Eternalcar exhaust system - not good
« on: 16 June 2016, 23:22:51 »
Christ thats bad - as said send them pics, that condition is certainly unacceptable!

I've had a couple of systems from Eternal, and have to say they arrived quickly and undamaged.  Cartons were properly taped and arrived undamaged, plus all pipe ends were well wrapped in bubble wrap securely taped to pipes - a pain to get off but protected ends from damage.

Either their packaging/quality has gone downhill or you have been extremely unlucky - either way complain loudly  :y

Keith, books are bad enough, but I have made several attempts over the years to get rid of old car, electronics, computing and photography magazines and whenever I settle down with a determination to "REALLT do it this time", I write off at least a day reading them to check that I'm not throwing anything useful/of future interest away.
Then what happens? They go back in their boxes, until next time.....
Am I alone in doing this?

Ron.

No  ;)

You cant 'realistically' change em at the roadside, according the manual they are dealer repair only.
Frankly, I wouldnt carry a spare unless you had one knocking around, a phillips or osram replacement will be about £50!

Easy enough job to swap out - just need to wait and wait before starting, otherwise a quick job - changed a couple myself without problem  ;)

It looks much nicer in the dash than the yellow GID.and I'm hoping to make this Omega as good as I can make it, with the spec Ive always wanted an Omega to be.  ;)
You can`t polish a turd ;D

Thought you might have had a link for this Rob - http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/mythbusters/videos/polishing-a-turd-minimyth/ - lot of work but worth the effort ?  ??? ::) ;)

« on: 08 June 2016, 15:49:26 »
Watched the superbike TT,Dunlop in a class of his own.First  sub 17min lap for an average of just over 133mph :o and he followed it up by going faster still :o :o :o How much faster can they go?On the downside of course there was the news that a sidecar rider has lost his life :'(

Thats pretty impressive but so is this     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NEskpWsMkI

Tony Pond in a stock Rover 827 vitesse averaging over 100mph over the TT course :y :y

That was not a straight off the, forecourt rover, it went to ST first.

Yep never seen a standard 827 Vitesse corner so flat - I had a company 827 Vitesse and that rolled like hell if pushed through the twisty bits!

Always hankered after a TR6 and a V8 Esprit

I love the Triumphs and if I won the lottery would go for a TR5 :)

Same here. Absolutely   :y    :y

Never owned a TR5, but have owned TR3, TR3A, TR4 and TR6 (see above)
Currently have a 67 TR4A (owned since mid 80s when it was extensively rebuilt and resprayed red by me)

Omega General Help / Re: Tire choice: facelift 2.2 Estate

Banned  ;) ;D

I have to say his knowledge of tyres, their composition, construction, testing and performance was rudimentary to say the least :)
WHY ?

Probably for being a dick - ask an admin as they banned him ;)

Re the ops original query, I can agree with VXL V6's post re Kuhmo KU39s as being a reasonable tyre for the Omega.  Also had them on my old Jag XJ6 (X350 3Lit V6 SE), and only downside was that rears didn't last long, no issues with fronts.

Assume your car is pfl or mfl - if so won't throw any codes for failing coil pack.

When mine packed up, had distinct misfire under gentle or hard acceleration.
