Yesterday. Thought I would move the Wedge out of the garage a few feet. Got out, but left it in R. Fortunately the Omega stopped it from rolling down the drive. No damage to either thank God.  :-[

Done 713.8 miles today. Still have 77 miles left.

Hypothetically that's a range of 790 miles :o

In reality, I have travelled from Arundel to John O'Groats on a single tank. Without trying.

That's 59.8 mpg at an average speed of 56 mph. Always at the posted limit or traffic, whichever slower, using cruise where possible and on every road type we have.

As appliances go, you can't argue :y

No Omegas on the way and only four police cars, three of which were in Scotland :-X

Did you enjoy the 100 odd mile section of the A9, with 60 mph average cameras c/w roadworks included just in case you get bored of the scenery, DG?

You'd have passed within about 100m of my office as you passed Inverness dude!!

Bled the brakes on TBE, popped in some new front pads whilst there, and freed off the rear callipers ::). Women.

Now I think I need a grown up to investigate the brakes further :(

Welded up a few areas of the floor on sons Punto. Tomorrow is the day to initiate Webbys mantra - " A grinder & paint*, can make a welder what he aint".  ;D

* Underseal rather than paint actually.  :)

Spend a few seconds(but no more) knocking the tops off the welding with an 80 grit flap disc on your angle-grinder. Then use the thickest underseal you can buy and brush it on. The good news is that this is usually the cheapest underseal :y

Then go and do some more welding practice so that next time is better.

A9 was fine, one annoying 5 mile stretch of enforced 40, but no real hold ups. Most frustrating part of the day was actually joining the M8 from the M74... Should have waited a couple of junctions ::)  that said, Falkirk is bigger than I anticipated :D

Took the black pussy to Readingham, fair way was back roads due to M40/A34 incidents this morning.  Got a nice thumbs up from an M3 driver for giving him about 30 miles of challenge, I guess not many people play with him.

Got back, went to find the Battlebus for Mrs TB to use tomorrow, whilst TBE is off the road, and gave that a good ragging as well.

I seemed to have used an awful lot of canal boat fuel today, for probably 160 miles tops...

Well, that's 1,747 miles at an average of 54 mpg and 44 mph...

Oh and it's a nice colour.

That's the two nice things to be said of the Hyundai i40...

Drove my car around and spotted an early burgundy saloon on the M4 near junction 24 but didn't get the number.

Saturday was spent driving: Northampton->Welwyn->Northampton->Barford->Northampton to help a friend (who lives in Welwyn) pick up his new Omega replacement..

..which is a very nice Subaru Legacy 3.0 Spec B with Prins LPG conversion. Goes very well indeed, even on gas, and the 66L toroidal tank fits flush under the boot floor in the spare wheel well.

I should have bought one of those instead of the Skoda but, sshhh, don't tell anyone I said that.

I always fancied one of these!  :y

He'll be glad of the LPG though as apparently they're very thirsty beasties!  ;)
