To be honest we went to Darlington to buy a really low Mileage Citroen......... However, such is our luck the car was sold........

What a turn up for the books after trailing around, Miss Vamps kept pointing at the Insignia, we ended up in a dealership, a make that had never even crossed my mind and bought this..............

General Car Chat / Struggling with choice of car...............

I love my Jeep, but daily MPG is becoming very expensive, so I need to look to a replacement....

Now members on here are quick to criticize members purchases, non Omega, so what do you suggest?

My commute is 12 miles, each way, on good A roads, work means driving around town mostly.

£10k ish, would prefer to pay money rather than borrow, budget and Auto are a starting point, auto is absolutely fixed.

Looking for good MPG and easy access, 'sit up and beg' style suits me, struggle with anything low, also need 4 doors and big boot, show me something better that a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, had one for over 3 years and loved it...................

Anyone got them? they type you buy, not the free 'roof rent' scheme.

It is something I had thought about, anyway a guy came knocking and I have a visit tomorrow from someone to discuss figures etc, they tell me that any surpless will be sold back to the National Grid and I will get paid for this every quarter.

Initial thoughts seem to me is that it will take so long to recoup any expenditure I am unlikely to benefit directly..............

General Discussion Area / Today, for the first time in my life..............

I had to break the glass in the fire alarm at work, always wanted to do that............

A female colleague came into my office and said that she thought there was a problem in the kitchen, greeted by smoke in the ceiling, loads of wires in there, and that smell of burning wires and the lights had gone out; we gathered our bits and the deed was done, took me 3 goes with a hole punch........

It was glorious out today.......

Master Vamps dropped in his CV to a local company today, got a call to go for a 'Chat' at tea time resulting in him starting on Monday.......

He will ring the first company tomorrow and let them down gently, you never know what the future holds, so no point in not letting them know properly.......

Being much older and wiser I think there is more potential with the first company, but he must make his own decisions..........

Master Vamps had an interview today, he was made redundant finishing last week, he is waiting an email with details of pay and starting date, starting at the bottom with loads of potential, a newly created Job for him........

Haulage and storage / distribution company, amoungst other stuff..........

Company will train for forklift, and HGV as time goes on, 7.5T first, opportunities beyond driver if he wants in the future............

50 hours a week to start.........

Ready for his interview tomorrow..............

Master Vamps was laid off a week ago and handed over his CV to a company, they are impressed with this, he has to go for an informal chat; and they never even advertised...... Looks like he might be starting as a White Van man with a bit of fork lift work, once he has passed the necessary training for the latter.......

Looking for a New, prop-shaft vibration damper for a 2004 Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD, would consider good used part.

Any suggestions appreciated.........

24 hours later, 25 views, 1 response asking me to clarify what part as he has a spare prop; whilst grateful for the response if I had asked on here about where to get Omega parts from I would have been inundated with replies.......

We really must never underestimate the value of OOF............

The Jeep needs some work, replace or repair is the question...... so thought I would look around for a cheap and cheerful car so I could put the Jeep off the road, whilst I like an Auto, not that much choice locally, at sub £1k so searching manual found this, not my style at all; but rather like it....

No, not me, sadly...............

Master Vamps has worked for this company for almost 4 years, today he has been told that the company is going to cease trading, it hasn't gone bankrupt but there is no money in the company...........

My question is; is he entitled to any redundancy / severance pay? assuming they have the money to pay it........

It is / was My brother and his wife's company, tbh the writing has been on the wall for a while as my brother returned to 'Trucking' some months ago, so no heavy handed tactics will be used......
