Title: Can't. Post
Post by: Figureman52 on 01 December 2016, 13:40:20

I need some help on this one.

Firstly, I can read all posts on the forum from any device through my cable internet connection, the same connection via WiFi or on 3G.

I can't post anything at all to the forum via my PC.

I can start a new thread on SWMBO's android smartphone via my cable connection using WiFi but I can't update the thread or reply to any other thread.

All posting works fine on the smartphone when using 3G.

My last post was on 06 October from my PC.

The PC is running Zorin9 which is a version of Ubuntu 14.04 and has been for the last two years. I have tried posting using Firefox 50.0 and
Chromium Version 53.0.2785.143

Any replies from me may be delayed until SWMBO stops using her phone!

Thanks.

I had, and still have the same posting issues, see here, -

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=137724.0;all

When ever I try and post or reply, update etc, just get taken to a 'Start New Topic' page then goes around in circles.

Found if I use 'Quick Reply' or went on the 'Wap2 Site' it would work, but now that is 50/50, ended up posting reply as normal, which failed, go back Copy and Paste my text to Wap2 site then back on Main Site was the only way it would work for me, and now thats all trial and error.

Only way I can post is to use my Andriod Phone or VPN my IP address outside of the UK.  :D

I believe someone fixed something that wasn't broken.  :-X ;D :( :-*

If I understand the technical terms correctly, then no.

My internet connection is Virgin Media 50mbps and my sim is also Virgin Media: 250minutes, unlimited texts, 1Gb Data, 30 day rolling contract.

The same setup I have had for several years

Just discovered I can still post using WAP2

I suspect EE have some old, misconfigured transparent proxies.

If you have Parental Controls type filtering, does it help to disable it?

No parental controls. Don't understand the connection to EE as I am on VM.

VM also use transparent proxies, although reply was to Zirk.

What exactly are you seeing? Is it simply the Post button doesn't respond (javascript being bastardised somewhere), or it takes you back to blank post window (lost session)?

Click on post, after around 30sec I get the message:

"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

Clicking on try again results in a blank post window.

Virgin Megia or Virgin Mobile, Virgin Mobile use the older T Mobile Network, although now EE, T mobile (together with Orange) get routed through differently to existing EE Customers on their Network.

Sounds like you're losing the session - I suspect you're being bounced around your ISP's proxies?

Virgin Media works fine for me - in fact, Figureman says it works fine for him, too, from some of his devices (in the first post the way I read it, anyway)..

Hmmm, not how I read. If specific devices, cache clearing might help etc.

VM have a lot if baggage, much like EE, and seemingly identical customers will be provisioned differently, and that's before you consider the differences between how cable and dsl customers are configured

Use a VPN for now, theres a few Freebies around, none that I would trust or use on a full time basis but will get around the OOF issue.

Or you could download Opera Browser for PC, not a Browser that I would normally recommend but it has a built in VPN (be it a Common one) which seems to work reasonably well, and Ive tested it on OOF, just remember to switch it off when not in use, especially when on Sites like eBay and Paypal etc who grab your IP address and store it for their security reasons.

Why can I still post on my PC using WAP2?

You can use Wap2 and also Quick Reply on the bottom on the Topic Page on the Main Site, but that can also fail, for me when I try, if the Reply is short and quick it mostly works, but if the Reply is a few paragraphs or you take your time it seems to Time Out then Fails.

Also on the above, if, after Posting you get taken to another Announcement Page, ie, the Red Banner, something like 'Someone has Posted, while you were blah blah, please review your blah, blah' then it will also fail on both Wap2 and Quick Reply.
