« on: 27 February 2012, 19:27:11 »

hi all.

when my mig is running i can hear a noise and when you rev it the noise goes up and down with the engine. seems to be the tensioner or idler on drive belt.
is there replacements avaliable?.

also i wandered if anyone can tint windows?. i only need the two door windows done.

Yes, could be tensioner pulley, quite common.

Dealer will try to flog you entire tensioner for £60+, but pulley available on its own for £25.

Worth resolving promptly, not unheard of for it to seize, and take the aux belt out. Not unheard of for the aux belt to then take out cambelt.

My Tensioner was making a noise for over 4 weeks last year and guess what happened next.
6 o clock Sunday evening, chucking down with rain and the thing decides to let go on the M6 just outside of Birmingham >:(.
As i was sitting their waiting for the tow truck i was thinking, Why didnt i change it as it was dropping me a hint for the last 4 weeks :(.
Yes, change it. :y

It wasn't the tensioner it's water pump :'(.

Now she's off the road because I don't want to cause more damage.
Not sure how I'm going to get to work tomorrow.

Tensioner was worn as it was abit rough but water pump has movement

Good point. Bought new pump so could fit it in work if I'm allowed.

Hi Will,

Sorry to hijack your thread but..

I am having a similar problem with my 3.0 and was wondering if the noise that yours made was the same as the video in my thread (in first post) : http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=98802.0

I am having a tough time trying to diagnose it so any help would be appreciated  :y

Also, how much play was in the waterpump?  Could you see the pulley move when you wobble it, or just feel it?
