Project TB2 - Update 9

Managed to get the intake off (and reuse the original gaskets Omegatoy :y) and fix the coolant temp sensor.

Also replaced the split EGR pipe, though knackered the EGR itself (stripped thread, though not in the bolt I was doing up at the time)  >:(, so need to go to scrappy at some point, too late to get there now.

Still popping water out of the cap when it gets to 97 ish on the dash gauge...

Well it stopped the engine management and gearbox moaning. Other than that, it did sod all to cure the symptoms.... :(

No, I can't see anything wrong with the hoses.  Only 2 really involved in main coolant flow - the big ones to the rad...

Ah yes but......you now have a useful diagnostic tool in the form of the ECU temp sensor.......whats it reading on the live data window...

Nothing like what the gauge reads.  Come to that, the live data from the instrument panel bears no resemblence to the gauge either.  So I suspect the gauge is rubbish.  If only I had the forsight to do a live data on instrument panel before  :-[


Live data from engine ECU (DDE 2.1) showed coolant getting up to 105 when being pushed, and taking a long time to come back down after.  Even with the leccy fans wired up for full speed...

So, I am guessing that its losing coolant due to overheating?  If so, just need to work out why it is overheating.  Now, there are no DTCs for drivetrain (in fact no DTCs anywhere :)), so unlikely (?) to be electronic problem...

So its a cooling system circulation fault......what happens to the engine temp when the internal heater is on full.....minimal impact or huge difference....

I am currently undecided now. With old rad, heater made a difference. With new rad, I don't think it does, or only slightly...

Is it worth running a strong coolant flush through it - remember it did apparently have some instant HG repair/radweld/etc type stuff through it (lots of tiny copper like particules).  I seemed to have flushed out the loose particles, but presumably it has lined the cooling system.

Both Omegatoy and I believe the HG is OK....
