Spent lunchtime thrashing the Arrma toy around the leisure centre field.  I bet daisys and dandelions are still falling out of the sky now ;D

Spent about 45 mins ringing some local companies that sounded like they make shit, to see if I can buy some thick steel plate to strap my 3d printer to, to stop X/Y frame flex, but nobody has any.

Anyone know where to buy some 400x500 thick steel plate - thick enough to not flex when printer is bolted down to it?

Not sure if 5mm will flex or not at that size.  I do run my belts pretty tight.

Get yourself a couple of highway maintenance cones, put one either side of a manhole of appropriate size ........... and then nick the manhole cover.  :y ::)
I recall in a former life having to lift them.  I wonder if thats my I have square gonads ;D

What about 2 bits of I beam. I've got a couple of sizes, including some very chunky stuff, must be 250 x 250mm and 75kg/m. Bolt 2 50cm bits together, give you a 50x50 flat surface. 12-18mm ply on top using gripfill and spacers to get it bang on level once it's on your bench and it's going nowhere.

If you're passing anywhere near Solihull you can have the lot for nowt. Got loads in the garden  :y

For the first time since March, I visited the little Social club tonight, that Im Secretary of. It was nice to sit and have a couple of pints and talk nonsense with old friends.
One of the little pleasures in life I have missed in the last few months.   :)

Thats not a bad idea  - I had started to consider some angled steel, as that would certainly remove any bending, but then also doubted my ability to weld it so it was flat enough.

Managed to get myself in the middle of the Greater Manchester lockdown and had to stay in a hotel up here whilst my daughter and her family used the house we have in the area. In installing the app for the hotel chain i uncovered security breach in that if you put in a random booking  ID with the hotel prefix then you got name, address, email, phone number and date of stay of other guests. Now been offered complementary stay in future. Hope they have now fixed it.

Replacement radiator fitted, coolant system filled (only with water at this stage), leaks sorted (hose clips needed nipping up), oil pressure gauge connected.

Start it up, hunting sorted (clearly was the blocked gauze for the governor), oil pressure reads a healthy 50psi.

Check for charging, nothing!

Dynamo off and stripped down, brushes are seized in the holders, clean them up and re-fit, all good (well as good as a Dynamo ever is!)

Re-fit the oil pressure switch and its leaking, new one ordered.

Run it up to temp, stat opens as it should, gauge reads correctly.

Next steps are to flush through the coolant system a few times, put some diesel in it (as I am now confident the tanks is not holey.....I had pressure tested some years ago), fit a new oil pressure switch.

Then its a quick check of the gearbox (blocks under the back end to lift it off the ground).

Its a very early standard Dexta.

Yes, Super had a few extra Ponies, different injection pump, a bit more cc (larger bore) and, re-profiled bonnet and cowl  :y
