FatherTs XF is near 200bhp. Easily gets 45mpg out of it, that's an auto too.

The CLS 320s I've been eyeing up at 3.0 diesels ans 40mpg is achievable.  :)

Six months or a year now this Mondeo is a sub £10,000 car.

It may make more sense then. :y

Have you had a test drive in either a diesel or a 'proper fuel' CLS yet, Mr Tunnie?

As said before, they are a lot of car for the money.  :y

Not yet....

I've also not driven MotherT's 2014 E Class Estate, or much of FatherT's XF. As I know once I get back into my Omegas, I will release how crap they are  ;D ;D ;D

Replacement CLS also opens up the issue of no more DIY service  :'(

It will certainly feel very dated. That's progress for you. :)

There is that. But whatever you buy, unless you buy an old British classic, you will probably be up against the same thing.

If memory serves the Mercedes Indie I used charged about £65 P/H plus VAT.

Main dealer Merc charged ridiculous money. :-\

Driven the XF a bit, but even just moving it around shows age of the Omega.

Starting it up, keyless entry, rotary dial rises from the dash to control gears. Aircon which actually keeps you cold, even when working Omega system is noisey and a bit weak. Not so in the XF or Merc.

With the 2.2 not being anyway near as smooth as it used to be, using oil, broken aircon and feeling like 181k miles I'm avoiding driving new cars  ;D

Big plus to keeping the old girls, as including the VAT that's the same as a tank of fuel for the 3.2 and 2.2  :o

Of course newer cars will feel smoother and more refined... will that still be the case when you seriously start looking at 100k+ mile examples? I very much doubt it...

Your welcome to come have a wee sit in mine if you venture this far north, only 85k so far but still feels good!  ;)

Quite happy with my two thanks :y

270k and 168k respectively and both feel nicely run in from a driving perspective ;)

Back to the OP.   ::)

If I was in the market for a new estate, the Mundano would be at the top of the list, as I reckon it's the best looking car in that price range!  :y
