Omega General Help / Throttle Postion Sensor What Type ?
« on: 26 December 2007, 14:16:58 »
I have just refueled my car and notised that it had used to much fuel for the trip up north so i plugged in the computer to the LPG ECU and i dont know why the LPG ECU had reset its self to default Grrrr
I have changed most of the setting back to what they should be but on one of the settings its asking what type of TPS it is and i dont know.

the options are + or - types
The Plus type reports the TPS is 0degs at idle and increase as the throttle is incressed
The minus type reports the TPS at 80degs at idle and as you open the throttle the degs go down

Which kind is on a 2.0l ecotec engine ? i have searched the web but cant find anything about it  :-?

Omega General Help / Just to Let You all Know IT Was THE CAM SENSOR
« on: 24 December 2007, 10:38:09 »
Yeah Bought a Cam and Crank sensor this morning from VX it was about 50 pounds for the Cam sensor but they only make them for the 2.2 now and the plug is different so it comes with a new plug will wire and so crimps made the job alittle longer.

I did buy a Crank sensor and it was 35 pounds ill keep it as a Spare me thinks :)

So Who ever Said Crank Sensor WRONG WRONG WRONG

And Who Said The Cam Sensor RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT :)

Right Off To the North We Go For Christmas  :D :D :D

Omega General Help / Hummm i might have be wrong its the Cam Sensor
« on: 23 December 2007, 14:12:39 »
Right i have the EML back on after the car warmed up so i decided to follow what Kevin said try and its left me alittle lost from me thinking my problem ws the crank sensor.

The Boy said the 4 pots will run with one of the sensors knacked Cam or crank but not with both knacked

So I unpluged the crank sensor and tried to start her up but no joy just cranked plugged back in the crank sensor and unplugged the Cam sensor and started her up no problem. So with this in Mind i am now thinking its the cam sensor at the top which is duff.

Anyone ? I was 90% sure it was the crank sensor as the EML came on and fault returned when engine was warmed up but now I am thinking its the Cam Sensor. Oh how i love my car at Christmas  :-X

Omega General Help / Must Be The Crank Sensor I Hope
« on: 23 December 2007, 12:23:44 »
Right Put All the cambelt cover back on and the Aux Belt and started her up no problem no EML on and seem to run really well.

Checked as asked by the Boy the voltage over the battery and it was about 11.5 volts as i am using a neddle voltmeter not a digital one

once the engine was runnning i checked the voltage again over the battery and it was 13.5 volts then checked the battery with the engine off and it was 12 volts so i think the battery is fine and so is the alternator.

I have heard the Crank sensor is more prone to fail when the engine is hot so i am taking this as the crank sensor is the duff one as on EML when it was cold, ill be taking her out in a bit for a run but if the crank sensor has failed once i am not chancing a 250 mile drive with it so ill get a new one tomorrow.

I dont think the MAF is knack as Eilte Pete said in my other post as it would flag up code 0100 and it has not.

Does everyone think its the Crank sensor and not the Cam Sensor ?

[Edit] Dave C i dont think its the ECU as i would have loads of problems and its the first time its died and now no EML it has to be a iffy sensor

Omega General Help / Help Pls Car Died In Fast Lane of M1 With A Bang
« on: 22 December 2007, 15:07:30 »
I was driving home for xmas to the northeast and i got 25 miles after 1.5 hours and the car just died in the fast lane, the rev counter went all over he shop up and down then just dropped to Zero.  :'( :'(

Pulled to the hard shoulder switch her off and back on she restarted but sounded alittle rough for abit Limped her back the 25 odd miles home
There was a bang as she died but i think it was just the LPG system back firing. Or could be the Cambelt Slipped ?

I really think the bang was a backfire of the LPG system when the car died (Mixer systems do Backfire loud from time to time)

The Codes That i have paper clipped out are

0335         Crank sensor
0340         Camshaft sensor

Have these appered because the cambelt has slipped ?   :'( :'(

Can anyone help as i want to get back home for Xmas

Omega General Help / LPG question for the LPG chaps
« on: 07 October 2007, 18:02:18 »
Right I am really thinking of changing my LPG front end from a mixer system to an injection system instead.

Since i have the tank already in and all the coper pipe and wires how hard do you think it would be to swap over the mixer system?

I want somthing like a Crashed Omega or Vectra to swap out the front end system, James Vectra would of been great for this as i think its the same engine as my 4 pot just smaller.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Suck Or Blow..........
« on: 25 September 2007, 21:20:36 »
Right Chaps this is part of my Carputer Project.

I have removed my head unit as my 8inch touch screen will be living there, so I will be needing an Amp installed which I have a 320 watt 4 channel one. I was going to install it where the Bose Amp lives on the eilte but i have a LPG tank and i dont want a Very hot Amp Siting above Explosive Gas  :o :o
So I am mounting it in the Cubby Hole on the right hand side of the boot.

I would like to know what these vents are for as i know they open outwards letting air out.

I have installed Two Fans to keep the Amp Cool as I dont want it cooking in a small space as it can get upto 70 to 80 Degs

Do you think I should have the fans sucking out hot air ? or blowing cold air over the amp ?

Thanks

I quickly tracked it to the ICV by unpluging it and the buz was gone plug it back in and buz was back. 'is this normal ?
