Title: Alarm going off at night
Post by: Black5f on 28 March 2020, 13:32:36
Hi

Just like to publicly thank robbo299 for this:
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90675.0
And the more recent post in this forum.
My alarm started going off at night annoying neighbours, backup battery problem, and I was able to go right to the source and temporarily castrate the old girl (if that's a thing!!!). 02 2.6 CD, abused daily runner, 3 consecutive MOTs, straight through no advisories! 134k miles.
People take the time and trouble to take photos and post etc and they save a lot of head scratching.
Many thanks and hope you are all keeping safe in these times.
Tom

so when he says cover the connecter in leccy tape and refit the power sounder, I take it he means cover in leccy tape to make waterproof/safe and do not re connect, but refit the sounder unit to keep it in place?

Best place for the powersounder is in a bucket of water and nowhere near a car. At the very minimum disconnect it and tape up the loom as the 12V feed is not fused and permanently live, if you've got that far you may as well remove it!

Hi. Yeah dump it. Potential source of fire. Just cover the connector to prevent unknown issues. But dump the sounder, alarm still works .. flashes the indicators. Apparently it has an old Nicad battery in it that can start a fire if it continues to be charged? I don't know, mine went in a bucket of water for a week.
