Well as said, unless you are a rubber tart,  I rekon the Khumho is a good tyre on the Omega.  My first set did something upwards of 25k with no bad handling characteristics.

I think Khumho KU31 at about 80 quid is a good tyre on the Omega.  Just put two on my Elite and had several previously.

If you are tempted to drive it in the meantime, you should be aware that if it really did dump all its oil (doubtful), then 2 L is nothing like enough to refill it.   a regular oil change takes 6-7 litres and even that leaves a fair bit in the car

I'm also puzzled why you are manually downshifting to slow down - what's wrong with the brake?

most pepople recommend getting a new transfer pipe just in case the old one gets destroyed in removal.

Omega General Help / Re: Anyone changed the handbrake cable?
« on: 12 March 2010, 15:03:15 »
Its a bit of a pain as already stated but nothing fundamentally different.   Look up the guide for setting up the handbrake and follow it carefully after you have fitted the new cable.

As a tip - unthread one side at a time and then replace with the new cable - then if unsure about the routing, you have the old one still there to copy :y

I would get a second opinion on the cats.
They may be talking 'dangle berries', and I wouldn't buy replacements from KF anyway.  Original second hand would be better - and only if needed.

You can try mopping our the plug wells (try not to drain them in to the cyclinders), but they may well refill quickly.

Several people on here will do the camcover job if you are able to travel to them.

Can you frig the 3.2 V6? My eml came on again last night - 3 months or so from last time. I think my local garage has closed down - they would reset for nothing.

Pedal test is 0420 again

I think Kevin Wood is nearest me but that is 20 miles or so. I am in Sandhurst Berks. Otherwise off to main dealer at Aldershot I suppose.

What are you expecting? Turn off the EML (should be the emissions light for an 0420)?  If so, it will only come on again in 25 miles or so - just as you are arriving back home from Kevin's ::)

Is it easily accessible such that's its realistic to remove, clean up and replace, or is it better off replacing having got in there?

pic in situ would be brilliant sjc :y

I am trying to be ready before I stand on my head..

Omega General Help / Brake pedal switch
« on: 03 March 2010, 15:45:32 »
Can someone tell me the part number for the brake pedal switch - the one that switches the brake lights and autobox interlock please?

Also if anyone has a pic/guide to replacement that would be much appreciated as from looking at various posts it appears access is difficult and there may be some disassembly needed.

Cheers,
Ian

Do the peddle test first.
And just to be clear, you don't have an ICV on your 2.6.

Breathers are definitely worth doing (according to the guide) regardless.
