deadlocked drivers door
« on: 11 June 2012, 12:11:19 »

The driver's door on my 1999 Tourer will not open. Its deadlocked.
Any suggestions on how to reactivate it?
The other doors can be opened. The keylock does nothing
repeatedly pressing the fob now appears to have disabled the whole system.
Yours in distress Paul

Use the key to unlock the door but you`ll need to turn it past the point of resistance, doorpin will not pop up fully

I have reviewed whats wrong and believe that the deadlock mechanism is not operating in any of the doors even those which still unlock
Can anyone tell me how to check and activate this circuit?
The garagists I have discussed this problem think that the lock is jammed and that the door trim will need to be destroyed to gain access.

Hi Rob

Which way should the key be turned? It turns abt 45degress clockwise and I can see slight movement in the locking post but otherwise it refuses to lift

Keep turning the key, as said, doorpin will not fully lift but door will unlock, keep trying the handle

Hi Rob

Yes turning the key worked.
I needed to use 2 hands and then use the door handle to make to post pop up
I think that the plug connector must have become strained since the door opening limit lever broke.
That's another job that a previous owner did poorly. I need to check that the plug makes good connections & is secure

Many thanks for your timely advice

I planning to put an oil separator into the plenium breather and wonder who might have experience. One bank of cylinders seem to burn more oil than the mate.
