General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 28 December 2020, 07:08:21 »
Done nothing on the car, but I did fire up the YZ MotoX bike...........

YZ bikes should be fun to play. My buddy got one it is really a nice toy. We'll have a trail run this coming weekend after we finished installing the suspension and black rhino wheels on the truck. I'll be on my TRX quad bike.

Nice one.  :y

My son had the Matt Black XD798 8 spokes on his black truck, with General Grabbers on them. Looked pretty cool but the tyres were a bit rumbly on Tarmac.  :y

Those wheels look great. Good thing the parts from 4Wheelonline showed up earlier. As for tyres, I like Continentals.

Done nothing on the car, but I did fire up the YZ MotoX bike. After an eternity it fired up (2 stroke kick start only, so not a carpet slippers job  ;D ). It sat there idling, and then the revs climbed ........ and climbed ...... and climbed..... until the old girl was flat out. Hit the kill switch, just glad that it stopped and didn't detonate and lunch itself.
It's got the dreaded death revs, symptoms of an air leak on a 2 stroke. The air leak makes them run lean and they scream their tits off. My guess is the ignition side crank seal, but it smoked more than usual so it could be pulling in clutch oil (wet clutch on this), or it could be down to using the petrol strimmer fuel, which is the wrong mix.  ;D  Why can't it be something simple, like the reed intake manifold. The downside of very little use I suppose.  :'(  This has only done a couple of hours non-competitively since I fully rebuilt the engine.
Oh well, that's my retirement project sorted.  ;D
