Please help!
My poverty spec 8 valver had a heater that was about as warm as human breath in the winter, this led to me replacing the clogged matrix in Feb. Although it has a tiny leak (had to reuse the O rings as the new matrix came without them) I can live wit that, what is driving me mad is the fact that once the car is up to temp the matrix is red hot....which is great - but so are my feet in the roasting foot-well!
Does anyone have any suggestions or have I done something wrong? The heater brows cold out of the face-vents, but with no air-con in 25+degrees weather it's like driving a sauna! :-[

hi. if it were me i would first try a manual reset on the system to set all the flaps etc.
and then i would check the actuator levers/ rods. they can slip out of the ends easily .mine were out.
you will need to remove the upper trim pieces( cardboard/foam ) and then some parts of the side where the console goes to the front and meets the heater. i beleive there is a guide to this.
there are little control motors that move the levers and flaps .it will make sense more when you have a look !

Purely mechanical system on that, so check that everything is still connected after the matrix change and that all the knobs and levers function correctly ;)

ah sorry dg didnt realise that.
that should make it a lot easier to find fault thou for him !

The temp dials do change the temp, what I can't get my head around is, if you set to cold is it meant to stop the hot water circulating through the matrix? Or am I being completely stupid? It's residual heat radiating from the matrix making the foot-well like an inferno. :o

Does it have an Hbv under the bonnet?

Errrrm, what's one of them? ???

Heater bypass valve...

I think I've seen on another thread this valve - is black and round like a giant heater dial? I will have have a look tomorrow. Can they be retro-fitted if I don't have one? That will definitely solve it. :y

I know they're fitted to all Omegas with Electronic Climate Control, regardless of age, but not sure if this applies to aircon or non aircon cars :-\
That said, they're vacuum controlled, so would be easy enough to engineer a solution with a vacuum switch and some plumbing ;)
