Potholes again. More to the point, recently filled in pothole repairs that lasted less than a month.  ::)  I can only assume that the highways people have lost the skills to sort them or the product they are using is shite.  :-\

Oh, and HS2 for flooding the road again. Not worth taking our cars for a wash as they’d be filthy again by the time I got home.

………….
Dirty Harry would have caught them and then strung the little bastards up by their happy sacks.. ::)......but I imagine modern coppers spent their time learning pronouns while listing all 173 genders during a 'diversity and inclusion' course.

If you’re IN trouble, phone a friend.
If you WANT trouble, phone the police.  ::)

I usually go with one of the better known companies, probably because I think they're more likely to be easier to claim from should I need to. But I've just been looking at quotes from Go Skippy and other ones I've never heard of. Less than half the price, about time I stopped being loyal to the big boys.

Same here, I prefer to stick with known companies, Why though I’ll never know, as there’s no benefit to loyalty.  ::)
My wife’s renewal has just come through and it has jumped up by around £150. I went on compare the market, filled out the relevant information and the same company **(Churchill)** was in the list at around last years renewal price so I phoned them up this morning and they price matched.  :y  Can’t grumble about that can I.

**
You have to be careful as some companies also list ‘Essentials’, which is lower cover than the standard policy.

Have they only just realised this ? Talk about having your head buried in the sand, at least Lee Anderson had the balls to speak the truth, apparently he has no intention of apologising good for him.

Just shows how out of touch our government is when they give Lee Anderson the push to save face, even though millions of British people agree with him.  ::)

Just like cyclists who wear cameras. Shouting and swearing over nothing. …….

You should enjoy this one then, although the ending isn’t fatal sadly.  >:(
It’s none other than the holier than thou, egotistical, antagonistic tw_t Jeremy Whine. Note to van driver ….. try harder next time.  :y

Interesting read here, Jim:

https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/electriccars/article-13113365/Half-EV-drivers-petrol-diesel-car-want-longer-journeys.html

The point that most owners with an EV also have an ICE vehicle is certainly true around here.  :y  One couple have a Tesla and a Mercedes AMG C63 V8, so I’m guessing the C63 carbon footprint is slightly offset by also owning a Tesla.  ;D

The Boots in our little town has closed down. It has been there forever.
…………..
More decline...  :-X

Yep, same here, the Boots next to the GP Surgery in our town is closing down next month.  >:(  It’s well placed for people who’ve been to see the doctor as they can pick up their prescription from the Boots premises next door.
They've been losing money in the smaller stores, and they are not a charity. American owned IIRC

Yep, appreciate that.  :y  The High Streets are dying on their arses and inadvertently we are all to blame with online shopping being so easy.

Incidentally, our High Street is full of coffee shops and Estate Agents.  :)

Hmm, just read that Boots will be closing 300 stores.  :o

My nights are 15 hours though.  :)

I did shift work all of my working life and legally we had to have a clear 11 hours rest time between shifts, so a maximum shift of 13 hours.  :y
On some jobs you can sign away that right, but we were bound by the rules.  :y

As both graphs cross at 5252 torque and bhp they are probably correct, however I’ve never driven the 3.0. my 3.2  Mv6 estate goes very well for what it is, James was let loose on it 😁
The difference between the two would be negligible to the average driver, I would think. Let's face it, the average omega driver was quite well off, they were expensive back in the day, and it was classed as an executive saloon, a cruiser not a race car. But Jaime does like to take things to the limit....
They certainly drive "differently", due to the programming of the throttle on the DBW ones.  Would you notice the difference in reality (ignoring the throttle differences)?  Probably not in performance - we're probably talking less that 5% difference.  2 in a drag race? Been there, done that, you can guess what won.

In economy, though, yes, a massive difference. Somewhere between 100 to 150 miles a tank extra for the 3.0  :o.  Mostly all down to compression ratio, which is pathetically low on the 3.2.

Appreciate your honesty.  :y  I do know that if the owner of a 3.0/3.2 tootled about in it, it would drive like a dog, so you could have a flat 3.2 losing badly to a decent 3.0 and vice versa.
Must have been pure luck that mine and yours went so well.  ;)  ;D ;D

Obviously the 3.2 is far superior  :D

You know it Al, I know it and even TB knows it.  :y  He’s in denial.  :y ;D

In all honesty, in all of the years that I had mine I looked out for 3.0’s to bait to find out if TB’s theory was right. If one did take the bait, I certainly never had one come past me.  ;) ;D
Oh dear, YZ250, methinks you are in denial.  That said, had we meet at the lights, I might have had a slight advantage anyway, as I seem to recall the saloon is slightly lighter (more than made up for by my bulk, I'm sure ;D)

We'll never know now will we, not only because we both no longer own one but because we have both matured enough to refrain from challenging others.  ;) :y ;D
Anyway, my 3.2 estate had sports cats and big bore dual zorsts so had an extra million bhp.  ::) ;D

I fully agree on fuel economy though, mine was shite on fuel. I never did proper mpg or range checks as I wasn’t that bothered but I never got over 300 miles out of a tank. It may have had something to do with my driving style but I’m not sure.  ::)  I would brim the tank, the range would nearly always show 311 range, I’d hoof it down the road and it dropped to 285 within one mile.  ;D  I had some really serious attempts at seeing what I could get out of a full tank but I’d get bored after a couple of miles and revert back to my old habits.  ::)

« on: 14 February 2024, 23:42:53 »
I believe the Adblue tank capacity is 17 litres on Cactus.

Incidentally, I’m reading of more and more Adblue tank pump faults, heater faults and injector faults and they are bloody expensive to fix. This expensive to fix fault runs across all brands and is not particular to just the odd few car manufacturers. It’s a piss poor (deliberate pun) set up, introduced in haste to appease emissions.

That looks familiar YZ, is that the road to Aston Sandford, where it goes under the Slug line?

Yes, Kingsey Bridge.  :y

The AA used to produce a two inch thick hardback book about driving and all the pitfalls that could become a person operating a car.

On chapter dealt with driving into a puddle that some how became a river and finally a harbour, and I thinking about it afterwards I couldn't help but think "Christ that escalated quickly"... Obviously there are still stretches of road around the place that can obviously swallow a car whole :o

The road being at two different heights causes the flood under this bridge. This photo was taken about three years ago and about three days after the initial flood, so the water level had started to come down.  :y  The 4x4/SUV vehicle was a tad optimistic entering from the shallow end as the van was already in there.  ::)  Both vehicles were fully submerged at one stage.
