Jim Clark Memorial
« on: 16 April 2023, 20:25:36 »

Did anyone else see the Goodwood Revival on ITV today? Worth watching the Lotus Cortina race. Qualifying was epic too. I think the suspension was somewhat stiffer than those of 58 ish years ago.

Nonetheless it brought back great memories.

Yes it was awesome some excellent driving with inch perfect placing of the cars to avoid crashing and great sportsmanship.  Made a mockery of F1👍

If you think that was good, watch the Gordon Spice Trophy race. Jake Hill making up 15 places in two laps in a Capri was a stunning piece of driving.

The Edwardian race was good too; those blokes make bike racers seem sane.

Modern Cortinas are much faster(most historic cars are faster than they used to be), and have considerably stiffer bodyshells. Not all original Cortinas lifted front wheels.

That was an excellent day out :y

I would have loved to be there.

TV coverage was pretty good.

First circuit racing I ever saw was nearly 60 years ago at Rufforth near York. A mini crashed near us and everyone rushed over to look. The marshalls carried him off in a pool of blood in a tarpaulin!

Watched it on live stream .
Superb racing in all classes .
Cortinas in the JCM race were thoroughly entertaining .My first car was a much modd'd Cortina so I was salivating over them all.
The E types were just gorgeous. 8)
The enjoyment wasn't nostalgic ,it was bloody good racing .  :y
