The white stripes will come off with the help of a hairdryer....and leave a right mess underneath. :-/

Seriously, I think almost any car is capable of huge miles. It's just a case of proper servicing, considerate (to the car) driving, and replacing stuff that does go wrong with good parts.

A Mate of mine had a 2.0 carlton taxi it clocked up 285,000miles when it was rearended by a bus, he was gutted cos it never used a drop of oil between changes and had never had a clutch!!!

Different councils, different rules.....and they keep changing them.

ie Swindon council, 5 years old for Private Hire, 10 years for Hackneys (5 years for normal cars licensed as hackneys, this used to 10years, but was changed last year)altho you can squeeze an extra year by re-licensing just be the vehicles 5th or 10th year.
Mot required once a year.
Cars just used for airport runs etc, and not used for regular contract work can be any age totally unlicenced and driven by totally unlicensed drivers (well you need a driving licence!)

Other councils can go for longer 10-15 years but usually have conditions like MOT's every 6 months.
And their rules on signage will be different too.

Basically each council makes up their own rules but should follow government guidance.

The 5 years is a bit silly, a big luxury car will still be well usable up to and past 10 years if well maintained.
