Anyone in Scotland got some spare black sealant?
« on: 26 April 2007, 14:44:05 »

Just phoned the dealer for the bits I need to do the rocker cover gaskets this weekend (and change plugs, leads and HBV -- all of which I already have). They have the gaskets and O-rings in stock, but as sod's law would have it don't have the sealant :(

If anyone has some left over, or knows of a dealer who has it in stock, that would be most helpful! I can order some in but really I want to get the work done on Saturday so it probably won't arrive in time. Running 150 miles back and forward to my folks' place in the 840 is killing me at 18 MPG :O not to mention it's damn close to needing an inspection 2 (major) service, time to get the luxobarge on the go again!

Cheers
Paul.

Cool mate cheers, yeah they're damn hopeless. Given the fact that it seems to be a very common failure point on the Omega (and maybe other V6 models) you'd think they'd keep stock of something so small, especially when they have the gaskets in stock!

I'm going to try a few others, here's hoping.

BTW part number is 90485251.

Ah, but most dealers will bet a gonad that the green stuff is correct...

Paul, where abouts are you.
I can have a word at my local in the morning, as they worked well for Markie.  :y   :y
I think the GPO delivered it the next day to him in Glasgow.  :y   :y
Not bad from up here in the sticks!  ;D   ;D

Let me know if you still need it.

Thanks for the offer Ross.... but luck was with me this time and I found one close enough to hammer it out there on the bike, just arriving shy of the 6pm closing time :) I now have said tube of black sealant :D

Still need to pick up the gaskets, but that's not a problem as I know where they are in stock and I'll head there on the bike in the morning.

I just hope the job of fitting doesn't have any hiccups now!
