rattle me this?
« on: 04 May 2007, 04:29:59 »

Hi I got a 3.0 auto w 88k miles on it. Im getting a slight rattle around 3k rpm in first and second gear only when the car is cold. When I throw my trans into N the rattle doesn't happen. Is this the transmission going?

Wondering if it could be the knock sensor faulty; does it sound like it's pinking in terms of the rattle?
Cheers Pete

Check the heat shields on the front pipes......they may be loose and rattling....if they are a jubilee clip normlay works as a very effective fix.

Whilst there.....check also O2 sensor connections......
