That takes me back over 20 years when we converted a mate's 2door mk3(in yellow) from a 1300 to a 2.8. In the street, in less than a day.
That involved parking the mk5 2.3 donor(which already had a 2.
in front of the mk3, and dropping the front crossmember complete with engine and gear box. After removing the axle, a passing pikey asked what we were going to do with the remains. 5 mins with the HIAB, and it was out of our way.
Then we did the same job with the mk3, wheeled the V6 into place and bolted it up.
It went much better after that!
I like a mk3/4/5 Cortina, and could quite happily drive a slightly upgraded car every day. Problem is, they now cost much more than the £300 Dom had in these two cars!
